About the process.
- Practice: Before recording with us we recommend that you practice harder than you've ever practiced before. Recording is a very hectic process and if you aren't ready to record then you shouldn't record just yet. The better you sound in practice, the better you are going to sound on your record. We can't make you sound better if you suck so get really good at your songs before you come in.
- Tracking and Mixing: Just so you understand the process we typically track each instrument seperately. This is pretty much a studio standard anywhere you go. First to go down is the drums and a scratch guitar and/or bass guitar track. After we get a solid drum track we will move onto the "real" guitar tracks and throw out the scratch. A metronome is preferred so get used to playing with one if you aren't already. It is also good to practice playing your songs with just 1 guitar and drums to get ready for the studio experience. The mixing component usually happens as we track the songs.
- Mastering:In my opinion, mastering is one of the most complex and subjective components to the recording process. This process has about a 1 week turnaround with us. When your session is complete you are provided with a rough unmastered/partially mixed copy of your record. I like to listen to this in my car and other sources and make any final adjustments before calling it a final mix/master.
- Studio Rules: 1). Absolutely NO smoking inside the studio. Our equipment is high dollar and smoke damages electronic components as well as your lungs. We have a smoking area outside the studio. 2). Throw away your trash in the lounge when you are done with your session. 3). If you need to crash overnight with us let me know beforehand so we can make the arrangements. 4). Contact us at least 24 hours before your scheduled session to let us know about your gear so we can make suggestions on what to bring and what not to bring with you.
- *A $100 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED WHEN SCHEDULING YOUR SESSION. This deposit will be subtracted from your total recording costs when you are finished recording. If you don't show up there is no refund on this deposit. I do this because I have had too many bands schedule recording sessions and not show up. This helps all of us in the long run. You can pay me the deposit via our paypal account: payments@wavefade.com
We are open Monday - Friday from 6:00 PM - 10:30 PM - Saturday and Sunday through the Hours of 9AM-7PM. All songs recorded at WaveFade Media must be mixed in house by WaveFade Media.
