Formed in Boulder/Longmont, Colorado in early 2004, Ebeneezer mixes a variety of genres and influences to form its sound. The band typically prefers to let its fans describe its sound, but it can be summarized as possessing elements of rock, funk, jazz, fusion and even a little progressive in an improvisational, but not "noodly", style.
In its first year, the band chose to perform sparsely in an effort to spend its time writing music. Though the band tosses a cover tune in here and there, it focuses mainly on its original material, which consists of everything from 70s blaxploitation funk ("Lester's Throwdown") to bluegrass-influenced ("Norman Fell") to slap-freak-funk-jams ("Dr. Walker, MD").
In late 2004-early 2005, Ebeneezer recorded a 3-song EP in Ben Rhodes' (keys, vocals) home digital studio. Having the luxury of a digital studio at their disposal, the band has been able to record a great deal of material over the past year, allowing it to tweak as necessary while squirreling away some jams for future reference.
The jams themselves are groove-oriented and just structured enough to prevent the band's music from slipping into the abyss of a self-indulgent noodle-binge. Rather than simply existing as "excuses for jams", the songs themselves are written to be able to stand on their own merits, with live improvisations being created around the song structures.
Shows featuring ever-changing setlists and jams and the band maintains a close relationship with its fans.

Have you ever been driving along and catch someone in their car absolutely belting out the lyrics to some song while playing the steering wheel, dash board, or air guitar? Just going to town not giving a shit about what people who see them may think?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure there were quite a few people delaying traffic with that while your track was playing on last week's show.
Hey Ebeneezer, Thanks for the add, we really appreciate it. FYI, we're giving away a pile of free downloads at www. charliewheelerband. com Now go get yourself some!! Cheers, Charlie W.
Played one of your tracks during the show this week. While I can't confirm this, I'm pretty sure more people were caught rockin' out on their steering wheel than any previous day in the history of Kalamazoo.
played one of your tracks during this week's show. luckily no accidents were reported from people rocking out too hard in their cars... i cannot say the same for the listeners in their homes however.
