Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far the LORD has helped us." --1 Samuel 7:12 (New American Standard Bible)
Ebenezer literally translates "stone of help", but it actually stands for much more than that. The Ebenezer stone mentioned in I Samuel 7:12 not only represented God’s help in the present, but also served as a reminder of His faithfulness in the past as well as hope in Him for the future.
As we looked back on when all this started back in 1999 as B.I.C., then onto the 40dayrain years, and to the place we find ourselves now, we could see how the hand of God truly guided us all along the way. There were some really good times....and some really bad times....and through it all, God was faithful even when we weren't. Without a doubt it was only by His help we made it this far, and it is only by His help we will be able to continue, so we couldn't think of a more appropriate name for the band than "Ebenezer Stone".
