Influences
I used to play bass and write for a kind of pre-Grunge grebo crusty punk band called Dirty Earbash in the '80s. We occupied the middle ground where Mudhoney met Hawkwind and the Dead Kennedys, but we didn't occupy it for long.
The first album I bought was Iron Fist, by Motorhead, and I still love a lot of tracks off it. Lemmy is among my influences, along with the Stooges, a lot of punk (from Pistols, Clash and Damned to Blitz, Blood and Cockney Rejects) and modern punk and metal (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Slipknot, System of a Down, etc).
Thing is, when I write songs, thay usually sound like Slipknot in my head, but come out a bit too poppy - my weedy voice is a lot of the problem. That and being a bit lazy with the guitar fx - I keep using the same pre-sets on my studio, just 'cos I'm always in a rush.
My brother used to play bass in the late lamented Jerry-Built, for whom I did this video in 2003.

So I’ve just uploaded a new tune - it’s called ‘Long Days, Late Nights’ and you can hear it on my page right now!
Having never written and recorded an entire EP all on my own before I was perhaps a little optimistic in thinking it’d be ready for the end of August; it is nearly done, just not quite yet!
The new tune is going to be the last song on the EP - I think it has that kinda melancholy vibe, but I'd love to know your thoughts..
