With raw Libertine-esq energy and amazingly catchy songs, this West London band have it all to play for, and here is how it started..........The Eccentric Sensibles - or ‘TES’ - as they are affectionately known, were formed in 2007 by Lee Howard. After years of songwriting and jamming, Lee employed the services of a childhood friend and together decided to get things off the ground.
A drummer was recruited at the start of 2008 and a distinct sound was coming together. This left them the task of finding a bass player to complete the quartet and give the band some much needed balance. A choice meeting put Lee in contact with an old guitar playing acquaintance, who himself was looking for a new musical challenge. He became the Eccentrics new Bass player and quickly adapted to the new role after being a lead guitarist in previous endeavors. The Eccentrics highlight of 2008 was undoubtedly their performance at the Sunbury Regatta on a sunny August afternoon which received great critical acclaim by both revelers and local music reporters alike, and did nothing to quell the enthusiasm for up and coming shows. With each song as energetic and as catchy as the last, it is hard to tell which particular song is the crowd favourite ! Lee said ‘the crowd seem to know the words better than me, but I guess everyone must have their own favourite’
In 2009 THE ECCENTRIC SENSIBLES hit the ground running with shows in Camden and several shows in Lewisham supporting the likes of Charlotte Hatherley, Dirty Pretty Things and BEZ, entertaining the crowd with their distinct sound unlike any other, although a close comparison of Libertine-esq energy has been touted around.
The second half of 2009 has seen ‘TES’ back in Lewisham supporting BEZ again, and a return to the Sunbury Regatta was even better than the previous year! So with the year coming to an end it’s time for a break to write some more songs, ready to hit the circuit again in 2010.
