   About Eccotonic
ECCOTONIC releases its debut CD "Flow Motion" on Kiite Records.

On November 6th, 2007 Kiite Records released for world-wide distribution Eccotonic's debut CD "Flow Motion", available on iTunes, CDBaby.com and Amazon.com, as well as through numerous other music outlets (please see below for links to buy "Flow Motion"). Eccotonic is a downtempo/lounge/chill-out electronica studio project by noted film composer and recording artist Cato. Based in Los Angeles, California and influenced by LA's incredible variety of human culture, Cato still retains an artistic sensibility reflecting his European background, which includes numerous solo electronica/ambient concerts, DJ-gigs and scoring cutting edge, award-winning television shows. Mixing an eclectic palette of organic and electronic sounds, the music of Eccotonic represents the culmination of a body of work by Cato and his collaborators that spreads over the past several years. It is also a natural extension of his film scoring work, including the track "Cache" that incorporates musical elements from the award-winning film of the same name, directed by Carolyn Coal.

Cato's collaborations with other musicians on "Flow Motion", most notably with singer/songwriter Jenny Campmany, are usually heavily edited, sometimes distorted and otherwise treated through his constantly evolving sonic signatures. These, along with his unique voice in composing, arranging and orchestration, have already made Cato a sought-after creator of music for visual media, having resulted in many scores for award-winning feature films, documentaries, commercials and video games, including the opening music for "Smokin' Aces" (Universal, 2007), the score for "Semper Fi: One Marine's Journey" (Showtime, 2007) and the score for the Kevin Spacey production "Mini's First Time" (HBO, 2006).

For more on Cato's music for film and television, please visit Cato's composer profile on MySpace at www.myspace.com/musicbycato as well as Cato's page in the Internet Movie Database.

The music of Eccotonic has already been selected for CD-compilations (Pacha Ibiza's "Roof Terrace Vibe Vol. III"), licensed to network television (CBS/Paramount's "Girlfriends" on UPN), licensed to the 2009 Ford Focus campaign and played on famed Santa Monica, California radio station KCRW by Chris Douridas. Please check back for further Eccotonic news and also please visit www.eccotonic.com for more. Please follow a link below to get a copy of "Flow Motion" in your desired format. Thanks for stopping by!

REVIEWS:

From BlogCritics.org (reviewer: Scott Deitche) 01.15.08:

"This is music for early mornings and late nights, for the office or for introspection. In other words, it’s archetypical downtempo/lounge, albeit with a slightly mellower feel than say Mono or some of Tracey Thorn’s work. The pastoral electronics on the CD are compressed, stretched, distorted, and squeezed, bringing out an unusual lushness in the music without veering into new age boredom. The beats are nicely interspersed; they don’t jar the listener from settling into the melody."

From Kotori Magazine by [CH], December 2007:

"Flow Motion is extremely reminiscent of early Kruder & Dorfmeister or Tosca work. The only difference is a wider range on the eq board, and possibly some XLRs plugged into a few additional channels. The broken-breakbeats and smooth downtempo nature of the record lend masterful guidance to an image laden imagination, on that has Cato, the brilliant mind behind Eccotonic, also behind the sound boards mixing and producing and composing and recording for award winning films, television, shows, and video games. From "A Beautiful Thing’s" provocatively sensuous vocals to the exotic soundscape driving "Caesar Redux" and deep into the futuristically enticing "Game Thing", Flow Motion does just that. Very Well. [CH]"

From THICK, thickonline.com 11.30.07:

"The future is now, and the music of the future is here. Well, maybe it's safer to say the future of downtempo music is here, and it's name is Eccotonic. This first release by Eccotonic, Flow Motion, is a beautiful creation."...read the rest in the Eccotonic blog.

From TheCelebrityCafe.com by Sari N. Kent, 11.16.07:

"Flow Motion" from Eccotonic has a matchless and eclectic collage of songs that span the musical spectrum of catchy to calming in one swoop." - Rating 8 out of 10.

From URBNet.com 11.14.07:

Flow Motion has beautifully arranged a collection of spirited down tempo/electronic emotions in his debut cd. The film composer & artist 'Cato' is probably more well known for his movie compositions; opening music for Smokin' Aces, Mini's First Time (HBO – Kevin Spacey Production) and so many other licensed materials to television and film. Being from Los Angles he has captured a wide array of soundscapes that has been accumulating over numerous years and has spawned Eccotonic. If you are a fan of groups like Tricky, Portishead, Esthero and Massive Attack you'll warm up to these songs quickly. There's so many soothing and romantic sounds wrapped amongst chilled like beats and vocals. On the second track Cato introduces Jenny Campmany. Right away you are whisked on a journey that's pleasurable and also meaningful. With vocals like these its no wonder people compare her to the likes of Enya and Tori Amos. Along with Flow Motions structure and composition he develops what is a pair made in heaven with Jenny Campmany. Ending off the album is Cato's "cache' track from the same named film from 1998. It's a piece that stretches the imagination in between the piano keys and vocal snippets that bring your curiosity to find the movie and watch it in the comfort of your own home.[Oxide]

From Electronic Musician, Xtra ,11.13.07:

Fresh-Picked Music: Eccotonic
Disguised by the name Eccotonic, film composer and recording artist Cato describes himself as a visual composer who "paints a soundscape." When creating music, he sees the sound as well as hears it, and that shines through in his new album, Flow Motion. Released to the world just a week ago, the electronica/lounge project inspires the senses with dark basslines, thoughtful rhythms, sensual vocals, and tasteful sprinkles of samples. Created mostly "inside the computer" with software, sound libraries, and manipulated sounds, Eccotonic's works are a smart and lush combination of electronic and acoustic.
