This is merge-into-the-meadow music, with soft vocal melodies flowing around streams of Andean flutes, charango and guitar.
The songs are an expression of my journeys into dark nights that are luminous and back. They could be called song-rafts to other (more pleasurable) worlds, or journeying-lullabies to head deeper into intriguing, subtle places that might otherwise be drowned out by over-activity and busy-ness.
I originally became involved in listening for melodies and lyrics as a way to help myself feel better during difficult times. Eventually, I was able to feel a natural, internal joy that became easy to perceive after learning to be open to a wider range of emotions. This current group of songs seems to come directly from that fuller-spectrum emotion-place.
I take direction in all aspects of music from the songs themselves. Whenever I have questions, I just ask the song. Sometimes, I get an answer right away. Other times, answers come in the form of someone or something else telling me. However it comes is fine with me; but ultimately, I always check back in with the songs to stay on course.
I feel very fortunate to be able to work with songs, and to be able to express them vocally. Singing for me is a sensual act, ideally an expression of feminine radiance, when it’s done well.
