The fond appreciation of Pink Floyd music resonates from each and every one of our musicians. We weren’t always known as “Echoes of Pompeii”. Our fans began to request us to perform these all-Floyd shows because they felt we played the music better than any one else they had heard. We responded to their call.****
We rented a hall, put together a show and with little promotional effort, had over 800 people show up. We decided to call ourselves “Eclipse” for that show. We believed the name was indicative of Pink Floyd’s music as it is the last song on the epic album, Dark Side of the Moon. People liked the name. In fact, more people than we ever imagined responded to our name! It seems like the word got out!****
We were able to perform a few more shows as “Eclipse” but realized our fan base would grow beyond the Chicago area. We were informed that there were many, many musical groups all around the United States performing as “Eclipse”. A boy band here and a doo wop band there. A band that hadn’t performed in twenty years but still had rights to the name in another area and yes a Pink Floyd tribute band in the mid west United States. We began to realize that our fans would respect continuity in our efforts and knew we had to change our name to insure our future success and longevity.****
We reflected back to the days we practiced in that first rented hall and pondered our new identity. It was an old, cavernous, 25,000+ square foot venue that had some resemblance to a Roman amphitheater. We didn’t realize the significance of that moment until now. We immediately thought of “Echoes”, a song written in 1971 by Waters, Wright, Mason and Gilmour. The song is about origin, self and identity and displayed a full team effort. We were all about the team effort concept. We found however, that there are many registered uses of the name “Echoes”. We needed to search further.****
Our thoughts moved towards Pompeii. Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii was a movie we had seen and was filmed live in an empty Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy on October 4-7, 1971. The first live recording of “Echoes” was released on this movie. We knew we had a name. A name that bridges some older Pink Floyd tunes with the more recent material. A name we’ve registered and will protect in the interest of the greatest band of all time…”Pink Floyd”.

Shame it cant be counted towards the UK charts, else it might actually get in the charts! :-)
Our "working version" of a new version of the song (replacing the previous one) is now uploaded on our profile - inspired by Pink Floyds unreleased piece of mucic "The Mortality Sequence" - dedicated to Richard Wright R.I.P
