 | | Festivaller | We’ve had our first Documentary "Ramblin’Boys" shown at the Mike Figgis digital lounge at the Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle. In 2007 it had its American Premiere at the Ava Gardner Film Festival in Smithsfield, North Carolina. | | Mesleki Üyelikler | Gettin’ the Blues is Echo Production’s latest independent project. We’ve been working on this for the last 2 years gathering interviews and performances from various Blues artists when they’ve visited Newcastle. The original idea was for it to be a one off Documentary about the Blues Scene in the North East of England but it’ll in fact probably be more than one documentary. This is by far our most ambitious and satisfying project as Producer DJ is a huge Blues music fan and it has become a very personal project to him.
Ramblin’ Boys was our first feature length Documentary. It tells the story of local troubadour Martin Stephenson’s journey to North Carolina in the USA during 2000 to produce a CD of field recordings from some long forgotten country musicians. On his way he discovered great old time country musician Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers. This led to Martin along with script writer Graham Rhodes producing a one off play about Charlie Poole’s fascinating short life. That’s where Echo Production’s came in, to document the whole thing for prosperity. The film was premiered at the Tyneside Cinema Via Newcastle’s own Jumpin Hot Club in 2004. It has never officially been released on DVD.
The Delta Music day was Echo productions very first Official project. It documents an annual event in Newcastle’s ouseburn Delta featuring local music and street theatre. It was available in 2003 on limited edition VHS from various local outlets. You can now view this on GOOGLE VIDEO!
This was a film commemorating a Blue’s night at Newcastle’s 900-year old Keep, captured as part of the Jumpin’ Hot Club’s 20th anniversary celebrations. It features Australian Bluesman Gypsy Dave Smith, American’s Guy Davis and John Hammond performing timeless Blues classics.
