While Gill was cooking up killer string riffs at live after-hours Manchester raves, Ellen was strutting her stuff as an integral part of the Soul II Soul string sound. Then we found each other on the set of Top of the Pops miming violins to a synthesiser, and we decided we had to join forces to create a sound of our own wicked, haunting and sexy tunes, sultry vocals, incorporating all the musical influences we'd collected along the way. Echo have played festivals (Glastonbury & Big Chill) and in London the ICA, Cargo, Momo's. We are in the final process of mixing our debut album at Good Luck Studios, London with production from Mark Wallis. Echo have contributed, influenced, and featured on a wide variety of other artist’s releases including Tom Middleton’s Amba on The Big Chill compilation album iChill, Herbaliser’s "Something Wicked This Way Comes", from which the track "24 Carat Blag" was used on the trailer of BBC series Hustle, also Mara Carlyle’s debut album "The Lovely" Lou Rhodes’ (formerly Lamb front woman), Mercury Prize nominated debut solo album "Beloved One", and Akasha's new album "Smoke". We also collaborated with Nicola Hitchcock on the track "Feel" on her album "Passive Aggressive". We‘ve recently written and played on new American rock release Brothermandude, recorded for The Who’s 'Endless Wire' album , James Hunter‘s Grammy nominated album ’People Gonna Talk‘ and Akasha's new album 'Smoke' and recorded improvised arrangements for Razorlight.
