G.L. GILES REVIEW OF ECLIPSIA....
This novel is billed as a “riveting Sci-Fi read” on the front cover, and I believe it lived up to it as far as being a fascinating read. Certain themes are woven into the storyline nicely as well: themes such as the importance of self-reliance, dignity for all life forms, perseverance, etc. Yet, the reader isn’t browbeaten by the moral lessons; instead, they’re woven into the plot fairly seamlessly. One thing I personally enjoyed about this sci-fi novel is that the primary characters were easy to keep up with as their unique talents and physical descriptions enabled me to tell them apart and not lose track of who was who and what was going on. Sometimes sci-fi stories can lose readers if their world of frequently exotic locales and characters isn’t well-established to start with. I was never lost reading this, unless you count losing myself in the storyline at times. The story primarily centers around the characters of Axreal and Jerish who, along with many others, have been born into servitude on their planet, Eclipsia. Adding insult to injury, their planet has also been stripped of many of its natural resources by the greedy Lam Warons. I think many readers will also be able to relate to this book which promotes an Eclipsian version of the Save-Mother-Earth motif.

"Well," He thought, "maybe all that comes of our last fight is that I survived long enough to try to track them down, wasn’t that where we were always going? As far as our limited bodies and abilities could take us, or just beyond?"
Marshall lay down on his mattress. A foot journey would result most likely in death. The immensity of the planet made it hard to find success in that he could simply hike his way to the Haven. Just as his eyelids began to lower, he saw two figures approaching.
“Now I know I must be hallucinating.” He shook his head to clear his sight of the imaginations. However, they did not go away. They got larger. “My God, no it couldn’t be, those are two children! What would they possibly be doing here?” He jumped up, ignoring the stiffness and pain in his damaged knee.
At twenty he had been very strong. Now at thirty what he lost in physical strength was more than made up for by mental strength. This trip had taken many tolls. Was he so isolated that he had succumbed to seeing things? He had to wonder.
Once upright he attempted to get a better look, a roundish ball danced around them. It appeared to have changing tethers. Packed along his suit leg he had safely tucked his sidearm. He abhorred violence. This tool served to take out a disease, nothing more. He vowed that he owned it for only that purpose. He lifted his cap, the buzz cut underneath remarkably, besides his music, was the one luxury he routinely got. He wiped away the perspiration and replaced his cap.
Marshall did not expect to encounter any higher brain carrying life forms. Lam Warons in this stage of the planet's takeover would have all higher brain carrying life forms incorporated into their processing facilities. He had seen the cancerous signs of them being in full production when he crashed here.....
