This novel is billed as a “riveting Sci-Fi read” on the front cover, and I believe it lived up to it as far as being a fascinating read. Certain themes are woven into the storyline nicely as well: themes such as the importance of self-reliance, dignity for all life forms, perseverance, etc. Yet, the reader isn’t browbeaten by the moral lessons; instead, they’re woven into the plot fairly seamlessly. One thing I personally enjoyed about this sci-fi novel is that the primary characters were easy to keep up with as their unique talents and physical descriptions enabled me to tell them apart and not lose track of who was who and what was going on. Sometimes sci-fi stories can lose readers if their world of frequently exotic locales and characters isn’t well-established to start with. I was never lost reading this, unless you count losing myself in the storyline at times. The story primarily centers around the characters of Axreal and Jerish who, along with many others, have been born into servitude on their planet, Eclipsia. Adding insult to injury, their planet has also been stripped of many of its natural resources by the greedy Lam Warons. I think many readers will also be able to relate to this book which promotes an Eclipsian version of the Save-Mother-Earth motif. G.L. Giles ©2009

Roddenberry Productions Review of Eclipsia. Review of "Eclipsia" written by Robert Francis and Joleen Bartles By: Dr. Ruby Moon-Houldson 12/12/2009 Eclipsia Robert Francis and Joleen Bartles 2008 by LuLu ISBN 9780615255132 This book was sent to Roddenberry's people who then forwarded the book to me to read and review (I agreed to do so). So, if you have a book you feel is great enough to warrant receiving a review, please do contact the people here at Roddenberry.com and they will see that I get the message---or the book. Book Summary: Axreal and Jerish make a fantastic escape to all that remains of their environmentally devastated world. They set out hoping to survive and along their journey they discover themselves, what it is to have a heart, and they learn that it is not enough to want better just for yourself: Dignity must be returned for all. Good and evil clash, powers shift, and the universal economy hangs in the balance! Review of the Book: This book seemed like a cross between “The Dark Crystal” and “Mission to Mars”. The main characters are Axreal and Jerish (alien beings called Setiacotions), CreXan (a Lam Warron), and Torbot (a gel-like creature with several arms). Axreal and Jerish are enslaved by the Lam Warrons and work in an assembly line type processing plant. The Setiacotions and other races born on Eclipsia are kept enslaved by being kept in tubulars where they were given small rations of food. Their minds were controlled with gases so they would be kept weak and docile. The “System” controlled all aspects of the process. Whenever a slave became a liability and lived past their usefulness, they were killed. CreXan is the overlord of the processing plan on Eclipsia. Axreal and Jerish discover they can escape from their tubulars where they are imprisoned when not working the processing line. They venture to the surface of Eclipsia and discover they can survive there. The planet had been ravaged by the Lam Warriors for hundreds upon hundreds of years until it was a wasteland. However, the land was healing itself and did indeed support life—which Axreal and Jerish came to find out. With the help of their new friend, Torbot, they pull together as a team to rally strength and courage in order to free their enslaved race. And unbeknownst to them, they receive a little help from inside the processing plant. The story revolves around how Axreal and Jerish try to accomplish the seemingly impossible task. I wasn’t overly enthralled by this book but did find it interesting. I read the book in about 3 ½ hours. If you do enjoy a story that takes you beyond our solar system, then this may be the book for you. (I do wish to share that the writers report that a sequel is in the works.) http://www.roddenberry.com/community/index/detail?id=567

Jerish Brakus friend to Rani I will be the last! Chicgeza put in a friend request! "Well," He thought, "maybe all that comes of our last fight is that I survived long enough to try to track them down, wasn’t that where we were always going? As far as our limited bodies and abilities could take us, or just beyond?" Marshall lay down on his mattress. A foot journey would result most likely in death. The immensity of the planet made it hard to find success in that he could simply hike his way to the Haven. Just as his eyelids began to lower, he saw two figures approaching. “Now I know I must be hallucinating.” He shook his head to clear his sight of the imaginations. However, they did not go away. They got larger. “My God, no it couldn’t be, those are two children! What would they possibly be doing here?” He jumped up, ignoring the stiffness and pain in his damaged knee. At twenty he had been very strong. Now at thirty what he lost in physical strength was more than made up for by mental strength. This trip had taken many tolls. Was he so isolated that he had succumbed to seeing things? He had to wonder. Once upright he attempted to get a better look, a roundish ball danced around them. It appeared to have changing tethers. Packed along his suit leg he had safely tucked his sidearm. He abhorred violence. This tool served to take out a disease, nothing more. He vowed that he owned it for only that purpose. He lifted his cap, the buzz cut underneath remarkably, besides his music, was the one luxury he routinely got. He wiped away the perspiration and replaced his cap. Marshall did not expect to encounter any higher brain carrying life forms. Lam Warons in this stage of the planet's takeover would have all higher brain carrying life forms incorporated into their processing facilities. He had seen the cancerous signs of them being in full production when he crashed here..... hi friend, lets visit eclipsia.net ..
