   Ecotone: Reimagining Place's Blurbs
About me:
The journal Ecotone emphasizes the deep importance of place in contemporary writing. We hope to break across genres, and across disciplines, to discover writing that is new, dangerous, and refuses to stay safely in a single place. Our goal is an ambitious one: to reclaim landscapes, to remap and reimagine place in writing that is vital, thorny, and alive. Ecotone is published by the Department of Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. We publish high-quality works of creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry, as well as interviews with new and established authors about the idea of place in literature. We are looking for great fiction, poetry and nonfiction. Our goal is to emphasize place but not to restrict ourselves in the manner of some nature magazines. We believe that this emphasis gives us an edge in a crowded lit market, creating a niche and giving us an immediate identity.
Who I'd like to meet:
Ecotone welcomes unsolicited works of creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry with a specific focus on the idea of place. Ecotone reading period is August 15 - April 30. Mail one prose piece and/or one to six poems at a time (mail genres separately). Prose should be typed double-spaced on one side of the page and be no longer than thirty pages. Poems should be typed either single- or double-spaced on one side of the page. Query letters should be sent for longer pieces. We have no preference in regards to names in headers or footers, or to staples or paper clips. Novel and memoir excerpts are acceptable if they are self-contained. Please do not send multiple submissions in one genre. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let us know that you are submitting simultaneously and do notify us promptly if the manuscript is accepted elsewhere. Do not send another manuscript until you hear about the first. Reporting time is generally three months. Include your full name and address on all envelopes. In general, address submissions to the editor in your genre. We follow The Chicago Manual of Style. All manuscripts and correspondence regarding submissions should be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope (S.A.S.E.) for a response; no replies will be given by e-mail. We do not print previously published work. We assume no responsibility for delay, loss, or damage. For more information about literary magazines, consult directories such as The Writer's Market™ and The International Directory of Literary Magazines and Small Presses. The staff of Ecotone is always looking for dynamic, original and boundary-breaking artwork which reflects inherent themes of the journal, such as borders, boundaries, the natural world, and the human world. Art submissions should be mailed to the above-listed address. Please include a cover letter describing your background and work, as well as an updated resume. Art samples should be in JPEG format recorded onto a CD-R, readable in any computer. Please try to include at least 8 different samples. In you need additional information, please email us at ecotone@uncw.edu. For more information about Ecotone, please contact David Gessner, Editor-in-Chief, of the UNCW Creative Writing Department at gessnerdm@uncw.edu or e-mail Ecotone directly at ecotone@uncw.edu. Mail submissions to: Ecotone Creative Writing Department University of North Carolina Wilmington 601 South College Road Wilmington, NC 28403-3297

Dear Magazine Man friends,

I have recently photographed a campaign for the City of New York.

GET SOME... NYC Condoms.

A TV, Radio, Internet, Magazine, Newspapper and Billboard campaign probably are known for you who live here in the city. If you haven't seen it. You can check it out in my profile http://www. myspace. com/magazineslist
