We're just a bunch of yokels riding the not so mean streets of New Haven, CT. You can find more about us at www.scorchers.tk.
In 1896, Albert Augustus Pope, using a patent purchased from local, Pierre Lallement, brought his Columbia bicycle to New Haven. The majority of the Elm City had no interest in his new mode of transportation. Pope hired a group of young men, which he dubbed Scorchers to "terrorize" the streets of New Haven while on his bikes. The people of New Haven were amazed at the efficiency and speed of the bicycle, and an urban transportation revolution was born.
Modern day Scorchers seek to keep the tradition alive by reminding people that bicycles are not just utilitarian transportation. New Haven's chapter is sponsored by Ghostship Clothing, Azonic, and Estate L.A..
