Ed Dampier's self-released debut album 'Blues Deluxe' was always set to be an anomaly - an instrumental guitar record not completely given over to the mere demonstration of technical prowess, and a classic rock album looking forwards rather than backwards. Instead, Ed sets as his ideal Jimmy Page's mantra of 'light and shade', and this is evidenced in the collision of electric and acoustic, rhythm and lead playing, retro and avant-garde stylings. Tender fingerstyle melodies recalling Nick Drake ('Cascades') run alongside brutal Zeppelin-influenced riffs, feedback and abstract Metal ('Overture', 'Archipelago'). While elsewhere Rock and Blues are mere jumping off points in a stylistic diversity that encompasses Funk and Jazz, Spanish and Oriental music.
Although initially a wholly self-taught and intuitive musician, Ed studied upon arrival in London at the renowned Guitar Institute - gaining a grade of Distinction and furthering the diversity and skill of his repertoire whilst maintaining a signature style. Unwilling, or perhaps unable to compromise his musical ideals in pursuit of immediate fame in a more mainstream context, Ed left behind various bands that failed to provide a full expression of his talents.
'Blues Deluxe' serves as that full expression. Orchestrating guitar parts sometimes after the manner of Classical composition, the performances and arrangements are never less than arresting. Ed is backed by a stellar session band comprising Yves Fernandez (Bass), Ed Carlile (Drums), and Andre Antonio (Keys/Percussion).

Got some jam with a rock band who wanna try me out next week, a guy who plays like Brian May, and his brother and friend which I knew already and got him interested in me, as I jamed with them and they told him I had a classic rock voice !!! I will keep it short...all the girls I know have started paying me attention now and saying I should have had it like that 10 years ago, and some are being abit flirty, what are they like ! So much for women all judging men by character alone !!!!! they are just as bad as men nowadays ! :)

My voice is on form right now, and may forma band with a guy who is very into Queen and stuff, but if you wanna do someting, let me know... :) My predictions all came true that classic rock would take the world by storm, went to see AIRBOURNE, amazing, and Stone Gods are very cool, and well alot of great stuff out there !!! speak soon on facebook mate !

PENTANGLE......SHITTT....did we miss it ! I know I wanted to go see Neil Young, and Jetrho Tull, but think Neil Young tickets cost 70 quid, which is cool to see a legend, but think it was right at the back ! :( Cool to hear you are recording dude, I have a multitracker if you need to lay down anything after studio stuff is over, it's a BOSS with 9 tracks and a CD burner, but not sure how to use the entire thing, but it's got effects on it too, and in the hands of a master can sound as good as anything because lets face it, technology moves on but in ZEPs time, technology was even way behind what a kid has in his room now, and those records were raw and amazing eh !!? hey, we gotta catch up, we should try and get to see those Jethro Tull though as they are now playing and tickets shouldn't be to high, they are playing Royal festival hall soon...they do it all really folk rock prog, and they are playing their early stuff....we should see them dude ! you know my email, or facebook dude, as don't look on here much ! Will have to hear your new stuff, keep it coming and good luck in the studio dude.... speak soon
