Eddie Berman first came across Dave Van Ronk and Bob Dylan while staying in a rundown hotel in the small port-town of Sete, France. In a bedside table, next to a bible, he found two CD cases left by the previous guest (Bob Dylan’s The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan and A Chrestomathy by Dave Van Ronk). He'd never heard either artist before, and was struck dumb by their sound. He listened to the discs day and night over the next couple weeks. And on returning back to California, Eddie immediately learned a few guitar chords from his father, began teaching himself how to finger pick, and became immersed in guitarists and songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Mississippi John Hurt, and Leonard Cohen.
Eddie has been writing and performing music over the last several years, while traveling back and forth between Berkeley and Los Angeles. His first EP 'The Americana Apartments' is due out in late 2009.
