It is believed that there is something special about be the youngest child. In the case of Edwin “ Eddie ” Charles this is definitely true. He is the youngest boy in a family of twelve, but that does not stop him from having the biggest voice. As a child he started finding his way into music through some neighborhood friends of Los Pericos Parang group of Santa Cruz. At the age of nine it was apparent that he was destined for great things. He soon joined the well known Malick Folk Performers Choir where his skills as an entertainer were quickly developed.
Eddie 's induction into the calypso/soca fraternity occurred at Barataria Junior Secondary School where he reigned as the school's calypso monarch. While at San Juan Senior Secondary he
discovered the rehearsal room of Star Flash, a local band led by KV Charles (no relation). He would often sit peering through the window and later imitating the sound and moves of the lead singers. In his heart he knew that some day a stage would be his home.
Upon graduating High School Eddie joined local bands such as Gemini Brass and later Sunberg. It was inevitable that his infectious style and unique voice would go unnoticed. In 1992 Eddie joined the band Caribbean Traffik Jam. Under the guidance of Steve Sealy and Andy Joseph,
the diamond in the rough became polished. Eddie recorded such hits as Road Hog, Musical Healing, Shadowing, No Evidence (de fork song) and Thank You. It was known when Traffik on de stage, is trouble cause Eddie will have the party Hot Like Fire.
Every true leader has a characteristic that makes them stand out from the rest. Eddie is no different. During almost every performance women stand screaming, waiting for the moment Eddie strips to just his boxers and show what a real Trini wine is about. No matter the size, shape or age, women rush t o make a waist down with Eddie . Taking queues from the audience Eddie gives a memorable performance each time, encouraging women to leggo de ting
After ten years as lead singer of Traffik, Eddie decided to add a new element to his persona. He became part owner of the band Triple X. In 2004 he returned to his soca parang roots with his Christmas hit Bring Sips, produced by Char Sau. On the international circuit Eddie can be found performing alongside Roger George and Leon Coldero of Code868.
Whether you feel like jumping or just simply want to wine, Edwin “ Eddie ” Charles is the man to make you free up.
