Bio
Stay With Me is Eddie Cohn's second full length record and it tells the story of a man struggling to learn how to live, love and find himself. The album is lush, vibey, dark, deep and layered. Lyrically, the songs express what is deep down in all of us: fear, anxiety, hope, love and desire. Music clearly runs in the blood as Eddie’s uncle Marc (“Walking in Memphis”) has enjoyed a solid and successful career in music for many years. While Eddie shared a passion for music at an early age much like his uncle, the similarities between the two clearly end there. Eddie's musical influences range from Radiohead, Nirvana and Jeff Buckley to the African chanting of Amadou and Mariam. Clearly Eddie walks to the beat of his own drum. When he was 12, Eddie was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic auto-immune condition that affects the entire body. Things like that—near-death experiences, catastrophic events—make their mark on your soul, bringing a unique darkness to your life that never fully dissipates. It’s from this place that Eddie writes, waiting for his muse, not forcing the creative process. The songs are heartfelt and personal; the voice is silky and smoky and enticing; the music swells and simmers, pieces laid brilliantly over one another to craft the perfect song, again and again. "I think it's important for artists to take the time to discover what they do really, really well." It took Eddie five years between Stay With Me and his last release, If I'm Happy It Ends. During this time, he traveled, reflecting on his craft, adding bass, percussion, Fender Rhodes, Moog and others to his skills on piano, drums and guitar. The result combines a variety of influences from the popular--Pearl Jam, Elliot Smith--to the raw sexual power of African drumming and chanting. As writer, performer, producer and musician for this release, clearly that journey was well worth the wait. Stay With Me is a glimpse into Eddie's muse, his soul, his journey and his vision..... -

Bio:
There's something to be said about living in the shadows of a famous family member, not least of which is an internal pressure to live up to family name. Do you follow in his footsteps, or forge your own path? The Cohn name might look familiar to you. Eddie's uncle Marc ("Walking in Memphis") has enjoyed a solid and successful career in music. Is that in the cards for Cohn the younger as well?
This Los Angeles musician is talented beyond belief, his new album "Stay With Me" is a veritable cornucopia of brilliant arrangements. The songs are heartfelt and personal; the voice is silky and smoky and enticing; the music swells and simmers, pieces laid brilliantly over one another to craft the perfect song, again and again. "Stay With Me" is lush, vibe-y, dark, deep and layered. Lyrically, the songs express what is deep down in all of us: fear, anxiety, hope, love, sex.
Eddie was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when he was 12. Things like that—near-death experiences, catastrophic events—make their mark on your soul, bring a unique darkness to your life that never fully dissipates. It's from this place that Eddie writes, waiting for his muse, not forcing the creative process. When the songs are ready, when the songs are brilliant, that's when he picks up the guitar and follows their lead.
It's important for artists to take the time to discover what they do really, really well. Obviously, that's a process, and one that takes time; it's nearly a full-time job in and of itself. This important journey is what led Eddie to take five years between "Stay With Me" and the well-received "If I'm Happy It Ends." He took some time to travel and reflect on his craft, and to learn new instruments, adding bass, percussion, Fender Rhodes, Moog, harmonica and others to his skills on piano, drums and guitar. The result combines a variety of influences from the popular—Pearl Jam, Radiohead—to the raw, sexual power of African drumming and chanting. The wait was well worth it.
Despite his gift, Eddie never stops working to find his voice, to follow the muse that is his and his alone. In releasing Stay With Me, he has given a glimpse of pure belief in himself-and his music-in full, in perpetuity. In other words, he knows he's there—and you will, too.
