Movies
These are my top four movies. Themes and characters in these movies have made an impact on me. It may sound sill, but this is what art does, it changes people and allows societies to develop normative behaviors and beliefs for its members. The lead characters are all within the pantheon of my heart.
My FAVORITE movie! There are so many things about this movie that I like. I like the themes, the look, the music, the feel of it. I love the character Amelie. Too bad I can't meet her.
This was my favorite movie until I saw Amelie. Magnificent. It is not a truthful rendition of the schizophrenia that Nash suffered, but the movie is still great. I like the dedication and love shown by his wife in the movie. Nash recognizes her achievement at the Nobel ceremony.
"It is only in the mysterious equations of love that we find any rational logic. I am only here tonight because of you. You are the reason I am. You are all my reasons."
Gladiator! Great movie and holder of title "my favorite" for a long time. Still in my top three. Strength and Honor!
I discovered Walt Whitman from this film. O Captain My Captain! Freedom of thought! Innovation! Carpe Diem! Suck the marrow out of life!
Television
I like to watch the Cubbies and Bears (baseball and football). I am completely addicted to The History Channel, National Geographic Channel, The Science Channel, and the Discovery Channel. I like CSI, Family Guy, Sportscenter, Battlestar Galactica (new), Southpark, Twin Peaks, and Northern Exposure.
Books
Some of my favorites are Leaves of Grass, The Vampire Lestat, First Things First, Legacy of Luna, Practical Solitary Magic, Dark Elf Trilogy, Spinoza's Ethics, Let Freedom Ring, Body for Life, Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious, Brothers Karamazov, The Road Less Travelled, The Fountainhead.
Heroes
Ani Difranco is amazing! Such energy, such depth, such complexity. I am blown away whenever I watch her DVD live performance. I've lived in Eugene for a couple of years and have never seen her live... but I will someday. I greatly admire the integrity of her work, art, with her life. That is what integrity is, that all the things you do mesh together. That your writing, your deeds, you lifestyle, your friends, your endeavors, everything matches in direction. Her writing is simply amazing.
I greatly admire Julia Butterfly Hill. She spent over a year in a tree-sit in Northern California. Her book, "Legacy of Luna", details her experience. I read it in one night and it changed me forever. While at a environmental rally in Houston, she showed the depth of her kindness and compassion. I got a hug from her and a thanks for my efforts. She is a real inspiration to me.
I could not list those I consider heroes, or influences of mine, without listing my dad. Though we might differ in politics or religion, it is him that has taught me on what integrity is, on what courage is, on what it means to be a man, on the worth of a handshake and all that it entails. Some might tell me that I am a good man. If they do, it is because of my dad always being there for me and leading by example.

I love the outdoors, can't get enough. I am a solitary Wiccan, always looking to make friends within the craft. I love coffee shops and bookstores. I drive a 4X4 truck and she loves to go into the mud. I am for tougher environmental laws, against gun laws, for gay marriage, against socialized medicine, for insurance reform (bring the medical costs down people), and more. You can't put me in a box. I have friends that are hard-core Religious Right and Far Out Man Hippie Liberal, and I agree with things from both sides.
