“In her huge playing and singing you can hear the ghosts of Mississippi in duet with the future of the blues.” -Chip Eagle, Blues Revue
“Brent’s forte is a combustible combination of boogie-woogie piano stylings and an effectively raspy vocal delivery.” -The Edmonton Journal, Alberta, Canada
“When Little Boogaloo talks, she sounds like a milk-cow walking on gravel, but when she sings, she sounds like an angel on Viagra!” -Die Burger, South Africa

"Yellow Dog Records signs 2006 International Blues Challenge winner Eden Brent, a masterful blues and boogie pianist and vocal stylist.
Dubbed 'Little Boogaloo' by her mentor and duo partner, the late Boogaloo Ames (1918-2002), this Mississippi Delta native holds a bachelor's degree in music but credits Ames's down-home tutelage with teaching her how to 'really play.'
Described by one critic as 'Bessie Smith meets Diana Krall meets Janis Joplin,' others have compared her to Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, Marica Ball and Norah Jones (our favorite line, though, involved something about 'an angel on Viagra.') Never mind the comparisons. Eden's fresh voice is one-of-a-kind, and her distinctive style, fusing elements of blues, jazz, soul, gospel and pop, is turning the heads of roots music lovers nationwide." - Yellow Dog Records
"There is no question that she is “Little Boogaloo,” as she is often called: a supremely talented pianist and interpreter of classics by everyone from W.C. Handy to the Gershwins. But Mississippi Number One offers joyous proof that Eden Brent is also a gifted songwriter, a great vocal stylist, and a knock-out entertainer." - Julia Reed "Mississippi Number One began as a solo record in April 2006 and is a tribute to my home and its blues highway, Mississippi State Highway 1, which is less traveled but follows the original blues highway, the Mississippi River, much more devotedly than its parallel neighbor, US Highway 61." - Eden Brent
With introductory liner notes by Julia Reed, famed Southern author and contributor to Vogue and Newsweek, the new album Mississippi Number One features Eden's own Memphis-style "He'll Do the Same Thing To You," urban soul “Afraid to Let Go,” gospel endeavor “Until I Die” and the blues classic "Trouble in Mind." Her first album, Something Cool, was released in 2003.

Was playing some of your music today and thinking about home. My 10 month old grandaughter loves the piano, grins and pretends to play when she hears your music. Happy 4th girl! Stacy:-)

Hey Eden: It's your old pal Hank Becker here. I see you are playing at Moe's B-B-Q in Daphne, June 26th. I'd love to see and hear you. I am not booked as of now on that night, so I'll probably show up just to hug your neck. I don't know if you are playing solo or with your band, but I'd love to play some of that there boogie- woogie with ya! By the way, I love playing at Moe's great atmosphere!I was the first person to play there, and I,'ve been back twice with L.C. Ulmer, and once recently, with my new band True Blue Review! They will be eating out of your hand, right from the get-go!
