Sounds Like
From heavy metal to jazz-fusion, to gypsy jazz, to straight ahead be-bob and even baroque music. This band is a chameleon. The music industry may want to put a group into one box, but audiences love this mix of eclectic music. Here are some reviews of students at Harper College from StringFusion's April 14th concert:
- "This was a very unique performance that I enjoyed a lot. The great thing about this concert was the variety of music they played. The audience really liked when they played the rock music. I thought it was interesting how Gabriel used an electric violin to play the guitar parts.
I really liked how StringFusion was able to combine a variety of musical styles into one great show."
- "This concert was right up my alley. Each member played equal but seperate parts. Aside from the Hendrix and Allman Brothers tune I really enjoyed the piece that was written for his wedding. That was one of the coollest and most unique bands that I have seen in a long time. I liked it so much I bought a cd after the show."
- "I'm really glad I went to this concert. I liked t a lot. I have never bee to a concert like this, and thought I wouldn't like it. I was wrong. I really liked the mix between jazz and classical music."
Edgar Gabriel's StringFusion is an exciting jazz fusion ensemble from Chicago. With former Cirque du Soleil electric violinist Edgar Gabriel at the helm, this group fuses elements of rock, classical and world music into its intelligent entertaining character.

The new issue of Music Street Journal is live and you are featured in the issue. Stop by and check the issue out at musicstreetjournal. com. The coverage is free of charge, but we ask that since we promote you on our dime (the site costs quite a bit to run), perhaps you’d consider helping us pay our bills. You can do that by buying a membership ($6 for a month to $25 for a year), buying a banner ad ($65 for a year and you get a membership for free), make a donation (there are buttons for $1, 2 and 3), buy a sponsorship (contact me for information – but it includes banner and membership packages at a discount), suggest that your fans get a membership, or do several of those things. You can do any of those things by using the “click to register” link right next to the log in box on the main page of the site. Whether you feel the urge to contribute or not, we hope you enjoy the new issue. The countdown to the extinction of Music Street Journal has begun, though. Unless the site starts to pay its way by the December issue our February issue will be the last one we do.
