Formed in mid 2008, EDGE OF COLOUR are a chameleon-like fusion of live and electronic sound, ranging from cinematic dub through to percussive and eclectic dance. Working true to their name, EDGE OF COLOUR, gravitate toward making on the edge and will move a dancefloor with their genre mash-up. From house to breakbeat, chill to drumnbass, the skills of these former DJs are employed to create a unique range of progression from the start of the set to the finish... The only difference is they produce all the sound. With the vocalist's background in visual arts you'll find EDGE OF COLOUR working in the boundaries between Music, Visual Art, Fashion and Performance.
THE FOUNDING MEMBERS are...
MICHELLE XEN a contemporary visual artist and breakbeat DJ who now lends herself to new languages in colourfields and soundwaves. A former Moonbar resident as DJ MOX, Michelle has played throughout Australia and Japan over the past 7 years. Michelle works directly with lyrics, harmonies, basslines and colour fields to sound out new terrain.
JOHN TEH is the final reincarnation of many experiments with sound, now making ebbs in the spectrum sounds at the Edge Of Colour. John has performed both solo and collaboratively throughout Australia, Japan and the UK over the past 9 years. His skills in the studio were further refined over two and a half years locked deep in the underground UK music scene. Beats and bass drive this one.
SPECIAL GUESTS...
DR OFFIG and his JAMBOT will be joining us on stage for a wild robo-bongo experience. This mad musician programmer has developed the ultimate bongo-robot...jamming live with its artificial intelligence.
EDGE OF COLOUR invite many special guests into the fold including fashion designers, musicians and visual artists.
