Edge Radio is a newly licensed independent station, in Hobart, Tasmania. As Hobart’s only youth station, Edge Radio provides a mix of music, entertainment, local journalistic content and information to enhance Hobart’s cultural landscape. Edge Radio broadcasts to the greater Hobart area on 99.3fm, and web casts to the world on www.edgeradio.org.au.

Youth of all ages. Hobart has a richly diverse community and Edge Radio recognises the unique needs of it's youth. Edge Radio’s core audience is between 15-30 years. Edge Radio’s programming is broad, and designed to reflect the interests of Hobart. This approach caters not only for the core audience, but has seen a substantial audience beyond this community grow. Whilst Edge Radio remains committed to serving the needs of our core audience, it is fast becoming a service for ‘youth of all ages’.
WHO ARE EDGE RADIO VOLUNTEERS?
Edge Radio volunteers are as diverse as it's listeners. Our volunteers share a common goal – to enhance the lives of Hobart’s listeners.
Edge Radio has over 100 volunteer presenters, producing more than 80 radio programs every week. In addition to these programs, Edge Radio airs 10 hours of programs produced by College students, providing training and radio experience for over 100 pre-tertiary students. To date, Edge Radio has created opportunities for over 500 station volunteers. All training and development is delivered free of charge to our volunteers.
WHY IS EDGE RADIO RELEVANT?
Our volunteers represent our audience and they decide what goes to air. They know what their peers want to hear. They are committed to providing an appealing and relevant service. Edge Radio’s approach ensures it remains a relevant and sustainable media outlet.
HOW DOES EDGE RADIO SURVIVE?
Volunteers: Contribute to every element of the station's service. Volunteers create the media. Volunteers ARE Edge Radio.
Sponsorship: We require sponsorship to pays our bills, meet our budget and keep us on-air. Without this major source of funding, our not-for-profit service could not survive.
Edge Radio acknowledges our sponsors through on-air announcements, informing listeners of sponsor services. We limit this material to five minutes per hour, creating a core of sponsors for our listeners to support.
Supporters: All listeners contribute to the station by enjoying the service and providing feedback. Listeners can show their dedication by becoming Station Supporters. Supporter member fees improve our service to all listeners through programming and community events development.

Edge Radio is committed to enhancing Hobart’s culture by providing a credible, not-for-profit service that fills a void in Hobart’s airwaves.
