   About EDGE
The story so far…….. .. er , well, let's see…..we're from London town in the U.K and have been going since about 1997 when Latenites ( aka Greg Brightwell ), having already been furiously scribbling away, felt the need to gather a few ‘troops' and put the whole ‘damn thang ' together. Having himself done more than a few years of freelance recording and production work in and around the industry, after a brief spell under contract to Siren Records (remember them?) as Keyboard and FX master extraordinaire in band ‘ Lovetrain ' back at the end of the 80's (– and having brought up a couple of young lads innermongst plenty of other stuff! -) , he thought it was about time to have a ‘crack o' the ol ' whip. So, armed with guitar, drum machine, DAT tape and good mate, funky wiz bassist Rob Parker the seed was sown and grew into ‘ This other Egg ' – a name that soon had to be changed due to confusion with the band ‘ Egg ', and who knows what happened to them anyhow!?... The hunt for another guitarist to ‘shred' up the scene was short lived when ex ‘ AC Temple ' guitarist, Tim Beckham , (who incidentally happened to be an old family friend), came down to London seeking gold roads or sommit , but ended up with us. A few local gigs around Camden , a few tapes to RCs and we were already kicking up some interest, which unfortunately proved too much for Rob and he decided to leave the band and go seek his own fortune in the theatre……… and who knows…..? Back to base, ( har , har !) or not as the case may be and a few auditions later uncovered a certain Comrade Titov of Soviet band ‘ Aquarium ' fame – you know, the best band to come out of the Soviet Union during the 80/90s and taken on a trip to the US of A courtesy of Dave Stewart (‘ Eurythmics ') and ‘friends'. Sacha proved to be ‘just the ticket' for taking us into a bit more of a credible ‘ indie ' sound as well as supplying us with hours of fables around his old colleagues and the KGB! ‘Short and sweet' was beginning to become an annoying realty as Sacha , under pressure from his wife to go full time with her ‘outfit' – she even threatened to leave him!? – left ‘ Edge ' to do as his good lady bid. We met up some time later in the Pizza shop that he was working full-time in……ah, well! A few months later and guitarist Tim announced that he was leaving town to pursue his most recent love, namely that of the female variety and ‘shack up' in her home town in Wales . He's now married with a lil ' one of his own and programming/teaching ‘puter stuff, having recently got his teaching papers…… and then there was 1………….. A chance meeting with a friend and ‘retired' skin basher Greg Neale (ex ‘ MudGods ') led to a few jams at home and a new working partner for the band. Working when we could against our other ongoing commitments, Greg's an architect and Greg was 10 years chair of a Housing Co-Operative, over a 2 year period we built up a good stock of material and were ready to ‘get out there' once more…….only one thing…..we were a bit bottom short, so the chase was on and resulted in teaming up with local legend Andy Jaques who we unashamedly shared ‘ Cobhamesque ' pre-rehearsal jams with whom we celebrated our ‘power- trioness ' with a few gigs around town. – cool ! Maybe not suprisingly and with a rousing chorus of ‘can't get no..', Andy just stopped turning up for rehearsals and returned to his ‘ Weather Report ' and ‘ Gadd ' - apparently he was renown for going ‘walk-about' without letting the world know…… ‘ Cor blimey Guvnor !' we hear the crowd say – were we ever going to get of the ground, Orvil ? - Well, never say die, and that being a good lesson for all the kiddies out there as recent arrival chez Greg's practice, Mark Vines , was ‘busting' to get involved with a band with interests, although……..he was a guitarist of the 6string and Edge was settling rather nicely into the threesome thang . A quick trip to the Base Centre in Whitechapel and fwizz the boy's turned into a shxx good base player, captain .. – he still doesn't know how talented a Musiker he is! Wahey !, - we were off and running, or should I say ‘kicking'? – the whole concept of Edge having come together ‘right nicely' and inspiring a whole lotta new ideas along the way. Fate, unfortunately, left us with yet another ‘situation vacant' as drummer Greg moved on a few months later,BUT, never say die, we opted to keep it going with an acoustic set which led us, eventually, to a gig at the Plough in Walthamstow where we were introduced to Ms.'Rock Steady', Zoe Burton - all the way from....Walthamstow! - with just a hint of 'Glazgee' roots there 'mon!' - not to mention a few ducks! -(get down!). Ahh, the tials & tribulations of a bands evolution...yes, you guessed it another one bites the baby!- bless his soul Mark decided to get his priorities right and start sprouting yet alone get married!! fond farewells then to a long standing member !?! - he even left his instrument behind for who so ever might want to step into his shoes- fnar,fnar.......! But, ahaargh! never say die, me hearties!- feelers out and a few trips to local 'open mike' sessions, namely Phil's 20 minutes of Phame at the New Cross Inn brought us into contact with the other side of the planet - Korea! I hear U shout - well, yes and a rare beast with a StingRay slung over his shoulders - I know the guyz just round the corner are into their sushi but this guy knows how to make that fish sing, man! Han-Joon Kim aka 'Roach' (hmm, getting fishier!) - brother of the one and only Ho-June, rock legend to his people, is a quiet (well, not always) and modest dude of rare talent and philosophical thought - not to mention that he can kill you with one finger! (work that one out!) and has brought this band back to rock roots and a personal history dating back thousands - yes I said thousands- of years - aha, bet U can't work that one out! SO, 'ere we are then still alive and kicking -We've just finished a couple of releases – which will be available for purchase from iTunes (keep checking) – and hope to appear in a town near you in the not so distant future!(Hint,hint...). Hope U like our lil' offering to the virtual highway - keep 'whatevering'! What style ?....... I dunno , er …Edge style! – you decide….

Excellent gig at the Bull last night guys. Cool stage presence. Be very pleased that a truly non-partisan crowd loved your set and really got into the groove. Hope to catch the next one.
