My Dad and Mom --for being teachers... and showing my sister and me the world
I enjoy improving the communication value of the written word. I'm relatively fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking). Can manage in basic Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish. Moving toward doing more editing, writing, and consulting in marketing communication (marcom) and copywriting for industries that can use my background in high-tech, biology, chemistry, and multi-cultural communication.
Services I provide through my editing, writing, and documentation consulting business:
Pacific Consultants Group:
Hardcopy Proofreading, Copyediting, and Editing:
When you send your hardcopy document (Post Office, FedEx, UPS, or DHL), I identify errors in English grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence fragments. I can also point out awkward phrasing, paragraphing, and make suggestions for improving readability and appearance. Using standard editorial notation, I mark a hard-copy of your document and return it to you so you can evaluate the corrections and choose which ones to incorporate into your document·
When you send your Notepad, MS-Word, or FrameMaker document to me, I can identify and correct errors as previously mentioned, but online. When completed, I e-mail the fixed document back to you.
Critique:
My critique of your document provides you with a detailed analysis of what you have written. This analysis gives you a realistic (although sometimes painful) second opinion of your document·
My skills include:
--Improving the results of translations from foreign languages into native English.
--Editing of highly technical documentation to satisfy audience needs.
--Increasing effectiveness and response for marketing and sales literature.
Now also taking ..editing for novel manuscripts, screenplays, and trade publications.

Photography has been a hobby of mine since the 9th grade--and now I'm renewing my interest in it as a fun way to blow off steam.

Here's something I've been working on--sort of an experiment: The Squidoo Sites--I'm still playing with it --and having a lot of fun with it as well...
I'll probably be *blogging* there in addition to *blogging* here.... I just hope I don't get *blogged* down. :-)
A new note for today--someone (you know who you are!) introduced me to this new weird way of blogging called "Squidoo"... As a writer, I like to write. As someone with a severe case of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), my interests (*urk, is that a squirrel?*) run between everything and anything. Put the two together and I write about darn near everything and anything. If I didn't have a starting case of carpel tunnel syndrome (CPS) I'd probably be more dangerous and would be burning up the keyboards. This being said, you can check out my current batch of Squidoos (this is a sneaky way to get the attention of an ADD marine biologist, eh?):
Did you know that you get mangos from a tree that's related to poisonous ivy and poisonous oak? Mangos and their trees also contain urashiol--the irritating material that's found in poisonous oak. Find out more here.
Who I'd like to meet: Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, James Rollins, Halle Berry, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Zhiyi, Ken Watanabe, Jet Li, Robert Kiyosaki, Antonio Banderas, Chevy Chase, Matthew Broderick, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Smith
Well, I would be lying if I said life was easy...LOL! but we have to keep our peckers up and get on with it huh. Well, as you probably know, I'm here in San Diego these days. I've been here for 7 months now and haven't made much progress.
Currently looking for a new place to live and might have to do some couch surfing soon. Who knows. What do they say "If it is to be, it's up to me" Well Dave - its up to us dude, no one else.
Still a single guy...met a girl just over a year ago and aseked her to marry me, but it didn't work out. Haven't dated for a year now.
Kumusta po? Salamat po for being one of my friends here in Myspace and of course at Squidoo... I think I'll be back now in making lenses. I'm feeling better now hopefully. Nice to meet you po!
Read about the crash and am beginning to wonder about a few things... nothing too serious I assure you, wondering about the island and how it's changed, stuff like that. I remember going out to Anderson when we'd skip school and going to the beach out there as well as Gab Gab and of course Talofo and Inarajan. If I knew then what I know now....
Dave! Thanks for your bday wishes, my friend. We celebrate bdays for a week in our house, so I'm living it up this week. Come October, though, it's payback time and my wife collects big time when it's her turn. The screenplay adaptation of my latest novel, The Identity Factor, is coming along nicely, and should be finished on time. Providing I don't overdo it on bday cheer, that is. Thanks again for your best wishes. Cheers for a great week.
Thanks Dave. And I'm so glad to see so many fathers jumping in on this topic. I think it's so wrong for mothers to push aside the opinions of the other half of the team, especially when it comes to their kids lives.
Clearly you and your wife have done a phenomenal job with your kids. Your daughter sounds like a very intelligent and inspiring young woman.
I totally agree. I don't think parents should push their kids into anything they don't want to do. Especially if it's something that puts the kids' confidence in question at any point in their lives as a result of what they were pushed into.
