Ed McGuirl plays acoustic and electric blues and roots music either solo or with longtime cohort Mike Fischman as "Jimmytown Juke" (aka: The Folk Support Group). In addition to his solo project "Ides Of Blue", his songs have appeared on multiple compilation CDs and an NBC documentary soundtrack. he has also received songwriting awards for "White Shirts/Hungry Children" and "Will The Whisky Win". He recently released a retrospective project re-mastering "Old Maids Of Galway", a 1981 album of Celtic music by the well known Greencastle Band that Ed played in from 1977-1987. (www.myspace.com/thegreencastleband). He was the winner of the local blues act category in the 2005 Motif Magazine Reader's Poll and the 2007 Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll. Ed has also done studio session work for a number of other artists including John Fuzek (A Dog's Age). He would be a rich and famous blues and roots musician if it weren't an oxymoron!!!
