I think Belle from Beauty and the Beast said it best:
"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere, I want it more than I can tell, And for once it might be grand, To have someone understand I want so much more than they've got planned"
Music
Abba, Beatles, Clash, Deep Purple, ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Gomez, Holly (Buddy), Ian Brown, Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Method Mana and Redman, Nirvana, Oasis, Pharcyde, Queens of the Stone Age, Rolling Stones, Supergrass, T-Rex, Who, X (insert name here), Neil Young, Frank Zappa.
I like much other music too...these were just the first thoughts a-z. General genres include hip hop, jazz, rock (pop, prog and punk), ska, classical (i don't mean movie soundtracks or daily mail cds either!), blues, soul, folk and at least one or two bits of country and western (by which I mean willy nelson or gram parsons). I'm not really into dance, house, drum and bass...but that's more through ignorance than actual dislike. If someone wants to convert me then go nuts!
Movies
A Room for Romeo Brass, Usual Suspects, Home Alone, Diner, Remains of the Day, Die Hard, Le Chateau de ma Mere, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Withnail and I, Way Out West, Memento, Beautiful Boxer (the fighty bits), Adaptation, Empire Strikes Back, The Wrong Trousers Back to the Future, Beverly Hills Cop, Goodfellas, Sexy Beast, The Krays, The Music Box, Bugsy Malone.
Television
Blackadder, Simpsons, Futurama, Mighty Boosh, Porridge, Round the Twist, Creature Comforts, The Office, The High Life, any David Attenborough nature stuff (I love nature), Adam Hart Davies making faces and shouting, Reginald Perrin, Hancock, Alan Partridge, Columbo, Bottom, occasional high drama Mexican super bastards dramas...etc.
WATCH THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Books
1984, Pride and Prejudice, Diary of Adrian Mole (the first), Brave New World, Vanity Fair, Down and Out in Paris and London, and a diary of an 18th century American cotton picker...twas much funny.
Heroes
Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Peter Sellers, Tony Hancock, Richard Pryor, George Orwell, Jack Black, Eric Morcambe, William Gladstone, Graham Greene, Sean Bean, Phil Silvers, Bill Murray, DC Thompson, Ryan Stiles, Martin Luther, my mother (couldn't think of any women, I panicked).
About me: Award winning *cough* comedy writer and standup comedian newly started on 'that London scene'. My day job fluctuates but involves swings and roundabouts, ie. lose there, gain here. Rather than hang around there, get moved along here. The rest about me will unfold like a piece of paper folded in half more than eight times according to common mathematical wisdom...or nine, according to a bloke I met called Shed.
Who I'd like to meet: Funny people. Wise people. Good looking people with low standards. Ugly people with middling to slightly higher than average standards. Foreigners (they don't play the same game do they?). Geniuses with talent. Geniuses without talent. Decent people (where did they go?). Exceptionally entertaining people or exceptionally boring people (same thing). Celebrities who've been in car accidents (for a proposed photo shoot).
I'm finished with A Demon Awaits , just waiting for cover art now.
In the meantime, I'm planning a winery tour to visit the winery where Sin and Vengeance takes place. So far I've gotten a grea response, so I hope it will be a great event.
It's been a great week here. I read the movie script based on Sin and Vengeance. It was really cool reading someone else's interpretation of my characters.
