I am a 37 year old musician and married to someone who when I first met, she ripped my heart out, and put it through a bloody blender...LOL.. In all truth tho, she's the sweetest and beautiful woman in the world, a once in a lifetime love. I have 3 teenagers, Devon Paige 17, Cody Michael 16 and Colby Elias 14 who FILL my world with joy and challenges .. and now a new little one Samuel Martin :) I have been addicted to music my entire life, at least since age 13 when I started playing guitar. I got into my 1st band in 1987 when I met a guy in Auto shop class who happened to be in there a year early, he said 'Your the dude that plays guitar during the basketball games' .. he said he had a band and invited me over to jam that friday night ... that was the birth of 'Metalurgy' ..lol.. It's great to be best friends with those 2 guys to this day!!! The second band I was in was Mirror Image, a variety band, female singer, she was good, we booked 2 gigs, did the first gig and the owner came up to us and cancelled the 2nd .. we never practiced again, but during that time I took about a year and a half of vocal lessons with a guy named Randy Shoup from Monaca, PA who has a degree in Vocal Trainging from Berkley in Boston .. then came the job offer that moved me away from my bands and friends .. I spent alot of time the years following buried in my career and my kids, something to this day I am proud of doing because they mean the world to me. I did do 1 Halloween show back in 98 with the guys from Metalurgy at The Holiday Inn in Beaver Falls, they were in a band at the time WildChild, we did the show as "Trench", a rather interesting night since the one guys girlfriend was 9.5 months pregnant and ready to burst .. lol .... I fast forward to the year 2000 and my moving back home due to the big 'D' .. I got back together with my buddies and slid back into the music scene, it occupied my time and took some of the sting away from not seeing my kids everyday .. I got into a band with one of those long time buddies Timmy Falcon. The name of the band .. "WildChild" .. Blaster Dalton on Vocals, Falcon on bass and me on guitars. We partied for a year or so working with various drummers, all the while I would hit the karaoke bars in Youngstown calling on those vocal lessons I had, having fun, just hangin out. Until 1 night when I was approached by Jim Tataraka, the drummer from Edison's Medicine(the pyro band), he followed me around listening for a couple weeks and then I got cornered one night by the bass player, guitar player and Jim and they said "hey dude, your going to come sing for us" ... 1 month later we did our 1st show at Hammerjacks in Warren .. a VERY VERY VERY special show, I got to open the night with my friends in WildChild and close the night singing for Edison's Medicine. Truth be told, those were special but not the most special, the most special is that I met my wife for the first time that night, sent to me by a higher power, I Love You Budda !!! Over the past 7 years in EdsMed its been a roller coaster ride, ups and downs, but the ride is still going and faster than ever. I have had the opportunity to meet numerous people from the likes of Eddie Money, Jerry Dixon from Warrant, Michael Angelo Batto to name a few, open nights for Cheap Trick, Warrant & Eddie Money. When I look back at all the shows we have done, all the pyro we have blown up, I feel longing to blow more pyro up !! LOL .. I have trained and learned with soo many vocal coaches and teachers, starting with Randy Shoup from Monaca, Mark Baxter in Boston, Bill "Preacher" Crank at Note Worthy Music, Jamie Vendera(www.thevoiceconnection.com) and most of all David Jones(www.voiceteacher.com). If I can give any singer out there any advice ... #1 Get the David Jones cd's and #2 Get Jamie Vendera's books. All I have learned a great deal from and thank them all!!
Who I'd like to meet: Stryper, Jon Bon Jovi, George Lynch, Def Leppard, Keith Urban, Gary Allan, Patricia Richardson, Tim Allen, Steve Perry, James Labrie
Cisco Hell, huh?
That reminds me of the time I networked the toaster oven to automatically brown me a breakfast roll anytime I surfed for nudies.
I'd call it Boobie & Bagel Brunch
As long as I can get out of a prior committment, I will be there. Fortunately, it was just karate parade that should be easy enough to find a fill in so all should work out. And I already promised that I would support you guys in Geneva the next time you played there and I would SO MUCH RATHER GO TO GENEVA TO SEE YOU PLAY THAN MARCH IN A PARADE!!!
