EdstanleY began as a singer/songwriter project by Scott Gripe. With a desire to combat those who seek to destroy the open-minded, soul-searching passion for true self-understanding, Scott began grinding away at his skillz on his axe and perfecting his ability to articulate the passion that brewed in his soul.
Although this "battle" against those who hold unique individual self-understanding down is one of the upmost goals of the music, there is also a focus on traditional themes of love, friendship and of course, late night debauchery with sexy seductresses.
As the songs began to materialize, Dave, a long time friend from college joined Scott and jumped on the drums. After meeting their neighbour Justin in HB, CA they decided to make the group a 3 piece with Justin on the drums and Dave on the bass. The transition was a smooth one and the 3 flow with swirling visual release of the frustration that brews within all of us.
In the process of kickin it in HB and jammin in Dave's garage the 3 neighbours became true fuckin homeboys and stand undeniably united. These three amigos are incredible on stage, showing a chemistry that many bands may never experience. Scott, Justin and Dave truly gell and their combined energy is excitingly tangible.
Searching for a name they decided to pickup the name EdstanleY, in tribute of their neighbour and good friend at the time, Ed Stanley. Ed helped to build a studio for them to jam in, donated his drums, his amps and his PA to the project, thus giving the 3 a garden in which to grow together. Ed remains active in the promotion and inspiration of the band and is currently training to be an undercover jujitso, grappling, navy seal turned bullet-proof body guard to provide EdstanleY with the uptmost protection while at home and while on tour.
Thanks again to all of you who have continued to love us so much! You guys fuckin rock and will be rewarded with our undying passion
"DJ Monkey …soul-stirring, excitingly edgy music…just disturbing (read ‘mind-f**king’) enough to demand attention. There is a whole spice rack of auditory flavors here, served up like fractured poetry on a collection of intensely listenable Hallmark cards from Hell." Bill Margold, Cinema Seen, L.A. X..Press

Forget about downloading our music on itunes etc... we've got something even MORE exciting.
You can now actually OWN a piece of the band. Instead of buying our cd right now - you can be a shareholder in our next one. It's a brilliant system - check it out!
You pick how many shares you want to buy - and then once the album is done, you start making money! :) And of course you can back out at any time. It would be really cool to have you on board for this.
