My name is Ed Ziehm. I'm a drummer that focuses on groove and feel as well as expanding my technical capabilities on the set. I'm also ambidextrous and have a unique drum setup that puts my hi-hat in the middle of my drum kit so that I can do fills and beats that a traditional setup would hinder for me. I try to challenge my drumming ability and knowledge with certain styles of music that I believe will help develop my sense of time and meter. My past bands have been in the style of rock, progressive rock, blues, ambient rock, and even Texas country. Depending on my situation, I tend to play live with a metronome to constantly improve on my meter and to deliver a spot on show for the audience. My influences are vast, lately it's been John Bonham, Bernard Purdie, Neil Peart, Josh Freese, and Steve Clifford (Circa Survive).
At the moment, I drum exclusively with the Fort Myers, FL based rockers, A200. I try to deliver a high intensity show that all who attend will enjoy and have a great time at. I changed my setup slightly when I
joined the group in October of 2008 to more of a power rock setup for my drums. This included raising my cymbals pretty high and lowering my toms closer to the height of my snare drum. If you're in the area, please come out to a show and I promise you'll enjoy the performance!
I also teach a limited amount of drum lessons to those drummers who are new or would like to work on their time and feel around the kit. I have attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and my mentor at school was Rod Morgenstein, a progressive rock legend who drums for the bands Winger, The Dixie Dregs, and Jelly Jam.
Here are a couple videos of myself on the kit with various artists that I've had the extreme pleasure of working with...
with A200 in Orlando, FL on The Miller Brothers Variety show - April 2009
Myself with Ryan DeSiato - July 2008 - Austin, TX
with One Perfect Minute - December 2007 - Ft. Myers, FL
