Eduardo: We are making slow progress, going through handwritten church records supplied by the Mormon research groups has been enlightening. We have gone through most records from 1830 to 1900 but really need information prior to that time. Aalen, Germany prior to 1830 is what we are looking for now. Its difficult to find accurate depictions of what Schaal begot what Schaal prior to that time. I'll keep you posted. If you can provide the names of your father, grandfather and greatgrandfather perhaps we can forge a link. Thanks for your interest. Mike
Eduardo; we are making progress using the Mormon's research, so far we have established that we hail from Aalen, Germany. Further research is taking us back towards the 1600's. I'll have a blog up soon with what we have found. Mike

Thank you for your comment about my paintings! I paint when I have the time. Wish I could do it as a fulltime job. Ok, Swiss/German/Dutch have similar words. Have you ever been to Holland? Schaal means bowl in Dutch. Not bowl like in bowling, but a bowl to put something in it, like fruit or cereals. It can also mean measurement (like 1:4).
All the best. And "groetjes" from the Netherlands ;),
-Nils
How are you? First of all I want to say I love your work. Keep up the good work. And do you have a Dutch background by the way? Schaal is a Dutch name, and I think I saw you with an orange shirt.
