The Juggler With The Yellow Shoes, Dan Kirk's Interests
General
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Susan, step sons, Jesse and Logan and daughter, Kathryn. The rest of my family is pretty cool too. I like fishing, playing piano, martial arts, eating Hostess Cupcakes, performing, laughing, speaking, running, jumping, rolling, thinking, dancing, riding, and making silly noises. Go ahead, ask my wife about the silly noises.
Music
I started taking piano lessons when I was in my early thirties. I had my first lesson in 1998 and my last lesson in 2007. Unlike most sports, I am not a natural at playing the piano. So chances are you won't hear me play unless you beg. I enjoy listening to Christian rock music. Q90FM, 90.1 out of Green Bay, WI plays some really good stuff. My favorite band this year is Barlow Girl. Man they got some great stuff. Hawk Nelson is fun. Plus I like Switchfoot, Chris Rice, Kutless, Skillet, Sanctus Real, FM Static, Reliant K and many other Christian rockers.
Movies
I've only been in one movie. It was a really fun experience, however, I wish the movie wouldn't have been so tasteless. Anyway, I played a waiter in a restaurant scene. I didn't have any lines. I dream of having a speaking role in a major motion picture. I know I have some great comic skills.
My all time favorite movie is "The Princess Bride". I watch it a few times each year. My favorite Christmas time movie is "Elf". I have to see that one with my daughter every Christmas.
Television
TV? Yeah, we have one of those. Okay, we have 5 of 'em. I appeared nationally on the Food Network, juggling cheese curds to open and close the show. I should have had a shirt on that listed my website as they didn't tell my name or anything about me. It was fun though. Cheese curds are yummy.
TV just isn't that exciting to watch. I do enjoy watching CSI with Susan. Football is fun. I'd rather play video games. Oh, yeah, House is entertaining. Funniest Home Videos makes me laugh sometimes. The History channel and the Discovery channel have some cool stuff. I've discovered Fight Quest. Since I've spent many years training in Tae Kwon Do I find this show way cool. I also enjoy fishing shows. Gotta catch those bass!
Books
I haven't written a book yet but I'm planning on it. (Just like everyone else in the world)Check the archives and dig out my story in Guideposts magazine from March of 1994. I was featured on the cover even though I didn't deserve it. What a great blessing it was. With 3.5 million subscribers, I was contacted by many folks. I got over 400 letters from all over the world. It was really cool.
Reading is wonderful! I'd have to say "Guideposts" is my favorite magazine. Nothing like true stories with life changing results. I read it cover to cover every month.
Heroes
God and people who help others who want nothing in return.
The Juggler With The Yellow Shoes, Dan Kirk's Blurbs
About me: Hi, and thanks for visiting my space at my space. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. Since 1993, I, Dan Kirk, wwww.dankirk.com, The Juggler With The Yellow Shoes, have been performing full-time in schools, fairs, festivals, colleges, cruise ships, Upward banquets and more across the country. I combine dynamic public speaking with amazing physical entertainment for the ultimate in educational programs and family fun! I also enjoy sharing the Gospel through my work. I'd love to perform at your event!
A juggler's life...
Dan came into this earth cold, crying and wet, on December 14, 1966 in Neenah, WI. This was his first juggling experience. After being dropped by the doctor several times, Dan knew that his life would consist of picking things up. Dan didn't actually learn to juggle three balls until he was sixteen. He practiced hard for two years then poof! He was an adult and he had to prepare for the real world. After a great childhood, Dan shipped off to UW Stevens Point where he would study to become a chemist. Fortunately for the chemistry world, Dan quickly tired of balancing chemical equations and changed his major to printing and publishing. After experiencing many layoffs in the printing industry, God spoke to Daniel and told him to be a juggler. With that in mind Dan stepped out of the real world and into the performing world. After finding a pair of yellow shoes on sale in a mall Dan knew he was ready for whatever lay ahead.
Dan Kirk is now a full-time professional juggler, entertainer, and teacher of the art who resides in Menasha, WI. Dan's stage performances always include exciting family oriented comedy routines, a wide variety of juggling, zany balloon twisting, and the use of audience members. Flaming sticks of eminent death and the blood sucking machetes of disaster are not juggled in elementary schools, but fair attendees and middle school students love the sight. Dan learned to juggle in the summer of 1983. He began performing in 1987, and in 1993 he began touring full-time. Dan was featured on the cover of "Guideposts" magazine in 1994. "Guideposts" has the largest circulation of spiritual magazines in the country! In 1995 Dan starred in "Just Juggle," an exciting instructional juggling video which is now sold out. With over 2,333 performances throughout eleven states, Dan Kirk, The Juggler With The Yellow Shoes, is sure to be a hit. Dan provides comic juggling at its best!
Along with performing for fairs, festivals, schools and corporate functions, Dan enjoys sharing the Gospel during his Upward Award shows and other Christian venues. Dan is available to fly or drive to your event! For booking information contact the Midwest Juggling Company at 920-722-1881. Share his web site: www.dankirk.com, with others you know.
