InfluencesFounded in 1984, EVC has evolved from a single video workshop for teenagers from Manhattan’s Lower East Side to become an internationally acclaimed leader in youth media and education. EVC’s teaching methodology brings together the powerful traditions of student-centered progressive education and independent community documentary.

    Educational Video Center's Interests
GeneralDOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP is a 15-week credit-bearing course that teaches high school students from undeserved communities across New York City to research, shoot, and edit compelling documentaries that examine issues of immediate relevance in their lives. YOUTH ORGANIZERS TELEVISION (YO-TV) is a ten-month pre-professional paid internship that jumpstarts the college and media careers of graduates of the Documentary Workshop. EXTERNAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS provide workshops and resources in media production and EVC’s methodology, including EVC’s Youth-Powered Video DVD Curriculum, for K-12 teachers and after-school educators, nationally and abroad. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT promotes civic engagement and social change through the distribution of EVC’s youth-produced documentaries in collaboration with strategic partners.

Here’s to 2008 – A year we opened hearts and minds.
And to a 2009 filled with health, happiness, progress, accessibility, and inclusion - where ALL children can live, learn, and play together. Where kids can be kids… together.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Thanks for supporting Inclusive Education and Autism Awareness! As always, our DVD is available for purchase. Please watch and share - our kids are growing up with a profound understanding and acceptance of difference. And you’ve got to see it to believe it.

The International Student Film Festival is accepting submissions for the 2008 competition. Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2008. ISFF is celebrating its 6th year as being the global authority for student filmmakers.

This year our newest PARTNER is Collegiate Nationals; a CBS company. They will be hosting the top three films from each category on their website and the public will be able to vote online for their favorites.

You can be any age to participate but must have been a student when the film/video was produced. Visit www.studentfilmfestival.org for a submission form or to view films from previous years.
