   About EDWARD GOATER
“His powerful tenor voice had a wonderfully rich tone. Technically first-class” - Eastern Daily Express.
"a wonderfully cultured and expressive tenor…” - Stratford-u-A Herald.
"Edward sang with impressive accuracy and style..." - Hants Chronicle.

Edward Goater, tenor, was born in 1980 in Solihull. After gaining a BSc in Ecology he studied singing with Lynton Atkinson and David Maxwell Anderson, and in 2002 was a prizewinner in the Hampshire Singer Of The Year Competition. He is also a member of the BBC Singers.

Edward’s solo career sees him perform all over the UK and Europe. Most notably in 2008 he performed in The Last Night Of The Proms with Bryn Terfel, as well as recording Leighton's Crucifixus Pro Nobis for BBC Radio3. He has worked with many leading conductors and directors including Sir Roger Norrington, Pierre Boulez, David Sulkin and Gianandrea Noseda. Edward can also be heard regularly as a soloist on BBC Radio broadcasts and concerts. His oratorio repertoire is extremely extensive; such highlights include Evangelist (Schütz, Stainer, Bach), Mozart's Requiem, Britten’s St. Nicolas (including an invitation to Kenya), Elgar's The Kingdom, Janácek's Otce nash, plus many more.

His opera invitations include Wagner’s Götterddmmerung; Rachmaninoff's Francesca da Rimini; Antonio, The Duenna-Linley; Viscount de Letorières, La Traviata; Beppe, I Pagliacci; Básník, The Excursions of Mr Broucek-Janácek; Balder, The Death of Balder-Hughes; Spoletta, Tosca; Middle Son, The Vanishing Bridegroom -Weir. Edward revived the role of Tallon in Dame Ethel Smyth's The Wreckers for Duchy Opera, and will be creating a new role in a new commissioned opera at the end of 2009. In 2004 David Briggs wrote the song-cycle Dreamworld especially for Edward, which is released by Chestnut Records. Signum Classics has just released Remoter Worlds featuring Edward. He has also recorded for Herald, NMC, and The Excursions of Mr Broucek is now released on Deutsche Grammophon.

Future solo works include The Rachmaninoff Vespers, Mozart Requiem and a Live concert broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Watch the 'upcoming shows' board or email Edward (see opposite) on other appearances!

Dear friends, I am playing a free gig at the beauteous Union Chapel, Islington this Saturday. The sunlight will be streaming through its vaulted windows as Blank Canvas and Arctic Circle present this gig during the blessed daylight hours of 12-2. And yea shall its hallowed interior be filled with all manner of scraping, wailing and gnashing of teeth. Let us pray. And then let us go to the pub.

Hello! Thanks for adding me. So you're a pretty useful singer then?! Sounds bloody fantastic. All the best to you in your beautiful countryside abode with your beautiful lady, gorgeous puppy, fabulous voice, stellar career and hmm maybe I don't like you so much any more. I bet you've got really good teeth too.
