Record Label
We are currently looking for a label & management!
Formed in 2006 by singer/songwriter/musician Mike Dominey and drummer Dwayne Bennett, Edward's Lane was Born! Mike Dominey is an aspiring, self-taught songwriter/musician. Originally from the small town of Stephenville, NL, currently residing in Fort Mcmurray, AB. Got his first Acoustic Guitar for Christmas at the age of 15 learning everything completely by ear, not knowing what was to come. Over the next few years he played in many different bands and picked up on many different instruments on his own such as drums, bass, piano, percussion...etc Soon realizing none of the guys in these bands were as passionate about music, these bands all ended. Meanwhile he kept playing guitar, and singing, learning cover tunes by ear. Mike first started songwriting in his 3rd year of living in Whistler, BC. in 2001. There, one of his bosses at the time offered to loan him money for a season snowboarding pass for whistler/blackcomb, but instead bought his first 8 track recording studio and began first writing alot of heavy metal style music, then leading him to where he is today with his alternative songwriting. In 2006 found 3 very like-minded and talented guys, and became really good friends. They decided to start jamming at drummer(Dwayne)'s house on Edwards Lane in Kippens, NL and rehearsing for shows. They called the band "Edwards Lane", A very fitting name they thought since that was where they formed the band and rehearsed. Since Mike and drummer Dwayne have left Newfoundland the band has become a 3 piece with another very close friend theirs from home, Randy (current bassist). Since moving to Fort McMurray Mike then started all the songwriting and recording himself, along with playing all the instruments. When the other guys got a chance they would come, listen and add there own take and style to what was already written. Since 2006 they have had the great privilige to have shared some big venues with such artists as Brian Byrne(the newest singer in I Mother Earth), and Hedley! They were also lucky enough to get a radio interview with one of the local stations 91.1 here in Fort Mcmurray, and were also kind enough to give them some radio play! The songs that they've entered, have climbed fairly high in the charts on the site "GarageBand.com" And have all gotten a ton of really amazing reviews from people! Please feel free to check them out there at: http://www.garageband.com/ artist/Edwards_Lane They've also won many awards such as Track of the day, Track of the week, best male vocals, best guitars, best drums, bass, mood, melody, lyrics...etc Mike has entered about a dozen of his songs in the songwriting competition here in Fort Mcmurray as well, and they've all won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the past 4 years! One of his songs "Strain" was also picked to be on a compilation cd from a record company(272 Records) in Hollywood, California called "Riot On Sunset" Vol 13 last year! He was obviously thrilled and honored for that opportunity! Not only does Mike have a natural ability with music, he has always somehow been able to pick up things very quickly and naturally. He has the talent, but i believe he just hasn't been given the right opportunity to persue anything further and to show his abilities to their fullest potential. Mike has a very broad musical taste, and has written an aclectic array of styles and genres of music ranging from metal, punk, hip-hop, classical, jazz, to alternative, but some of the bands and artists that have really inspired and influenced him over the years are Jeff Buckley, Incubus, Silverchair, Ours, Muse, Dallas Green, Dave Matthews, Coldplay, John Mayer... and many more!
I didn;t get a chance to say congrats on your 1st 2nd and 3rd place songs! congrats! Consider submitting your tunes / CD to KAOS 911, the feature local artists. And CKUA and college radio stations as well.
