Edwardsville Class of 1983's Interests
|
| General | Getting as many of our brothers and sisters on here so we can reconnect and remember good times. Send along any pictures, ideas or recommendations on how to make this EHS Class of '83 myspace page better. | | Music | We were in school before CD's. We owned actual vinyl albums, 45's. cassettes, reel-to-reel and even 8-track. Disco had just died. We watched Music/concert TV shows like: Dick Clark's American Bandstand, Don Cornelius' Soul Train, The Midnight Special and Don Kirschner's Rock Concert. Then, in 1981, MTV went on the air. Old concert footage and new "Videos". Most of us were into Rock and real R&B funk. Some of us were into country. A few of us were trying to find something that spoke to our teenage rebellion and found it in the Punk/New Wave "movement". Some of us can remember where we were in EHS when news broke that John Lennon had been killed. 1979 through 1983 was an amazing time for music. There was something for each of us. | | Movies | Most of us went to the Wildey to see movies. Later, the Cottonwood Mall Theater made movies even more accessible.
Films released in 1979:
Star Trek:The Motion Picture, Moonraker, Rocky 2, Mad Max, Alien, Apocalypse Now, Life of Brian, Being There, Breaking Away, All That Jazz, Norma Rae, Kramer vs Kramer, And Justice For All, The China Syndrome, 10, The Black Stallion, The Rose, The Muppet Movie, The Champ, Amityville Horror, Meatballs, Escape From Alcatraz, Love At First Bite, The Main Event, Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, Dracula, The Villain, North Dallas 40, Rock 'n' Roll High School, Time After Time, When A Stranger Calls, Nevermind The Sex Pistols Here's The Bollocks, The Great Santini, The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh, A Force of One, 1941, Chapter 2, The Jerk, Roller Boogie, The Black Hole |

Edwardsville Class of 1983's Blurbs |
About me:
An amazing collection of great looking men and gorgeous women. We have been and are athletes, scholars, creators, artists, musicians, community leaders, volunteers, parents and others of unique specialties and experiences. We have been around the world with the U.S. military, charitable groups and as tourists. We honor the memories of our brothers and sisters who have left us too soon. Many of us have grown together from our early days at local elementary schools Columbus, Leclaire, N.O.Nelson, St. Boniface and others. We all came together at Edwardsville High. Some of us were loud, and some barely whispered. Some took risks so that the rest of us could learn to be better. As much as we learned academically, we often learned from each other important things like friendship, good sportsmanship, charity and honor. Now we share what we've learned with each other and our children, that they may be leaders in their future. We will always be, Tigers!
