A Eek surgiu em Maceió, capital de Alagoas, em agosto de 2003. Formada inicialmente por Diogo Braz (Vocal e Guitarra) e Christophe Lima (Bateria) – que já tocavam juntos em outras bandas desde 1998 – em 2005, João Carlos Ribeiro (Homem do tempo) se juntou à banda para tocar baixo, e no final de 2008, Wagner Sampaio juntou-se ao time na guitarra solo e vocais. No início de 2008, João Carlos foi morar em Pelotas, e a Eek agora conta com Leo Tarja Preta no contra-baixo. A Eek faz música sincera. Não é necessário buscar rótulos, isso iria limitar as possibilidades criativas da banda; basta dizer que é uma banda de Rock, livre da ditadura das distorções, que coloca seu som na tênue linha que separa o leve do pesado. O resultado disso é música agradável, simples, que soa bem aos ouvidos, tocada com prazer. Os integrantes da Eek não tratam a música de maneira burocrática; as sonoridades criam as atmosferas para as letras, que trazem o cotidiano como pano de fundo para questões existenciais. Entre suas influências estão The Beatles (principalmente); Los Hermanos; Queens Of The Stone Age; Mopho; uma gama de bandas dos anos 60 e 70; e tudo de agradável que os ouvidos desses cinco parceiros possam captar. Na produção artística da Eek sempre esteve presente a necessidade de se expressar. Para a banda, a música não é apenas uma sucessão de acordes, e sim uma ferramenta de troca de experiências (ou seriam Eeksperiências?!?!). Em momentos inspirados e espontâneos, a Eek diversão aos ouvidos atentos e dispostos a conhecer mais um pouco da nova safra musical alagoana. Vista o seu melhor sorriso e aprecie sem moderação. It’s not necessary to look for labels, it would limit the creative possibilities of the band. It’s enough to say that it’s a Rock band free of the dictatorship of distortions, which places its sound on the fine line that separates the light of heavy. The result is pleasant music, simple, that sounds good to listen, played with pleasure. The members of Eek do not treat the music with bureaucracy; the sounds create the atmosphere for the lyrics, which bring the daily lives as the background to existential questions. Among their influences are: The Beatles (mainly); Los Hermanos; Queens Of The Stone Age; Mopho; a range of bands of the 60’s and 70’s and all good stuff that the ears of these five partners can capture. In artistic production of Eek always been present the need to express itself. For the band, music is not just a sequence of chords, but a tool for the exchange of experiences (or would be Eeksperiences?!?!). I just wanted to stop by to say hello and give you a little update on what Blood Root Mother is up to! We will be recording an EP of new music in August, and we recently finished recording a live DVD. The DVD is currently unreleased and I actually just saw it for the first time a few days ago. It features the last two performances with Tony Ellis still alive, and some footage from the tribute show we played on the night of his funeral.
There are some cool covers, as well as some NEW music that will be on our upcoming EP. We're very excited about the new music and we'd like to share a sneak peak with you. Here's a video of a new tune called Run Bobby Run:
