Nic!! Hola! Que Pasa! Estoy en California y pienso que yo voy ir a Sherman Oaks manana.... que estas haciendo? Quieres tener cafe? Llama me - 310-648-0110
Amazing, amazing performance last night. What an honor to be your friend. I've been feeding off the memory of the band's uncompromising ferocity all day.
I think you were in the middle of a sentence about listening to NWA that collapsed onto the floor. What were you going to say...what were going to say about NWA.

Would your mom be willing to write down the recipe for that cake. I've made pound cake before but, damn... need to have it in the repetoire.
without question that was one of the kindest, most exciting messages I've ever received (be it through tin-can phone or computer). ahhh, the phrase "guitar damage" sounds like such a lovely phrase. let's figure out what would be the best way to execute my apprenticeship...besides me speeding up my chord transitions. perhaps trying to get the songs from the other day down...perhaps coming over to your place. whatever, I just don't want to be an anchor getting in the way of all that forward momentum. and what forward momentum...damn you guys sounded amazing. what a privilege just to sit there on the couch and share in the brutality wrapped in incense (like an empinada of the heart).
today I finally threw down a couple pages of my book summary. georgia (who I'm house sitting for) comes back on sunday. I want to have at least a first version (one that looks good to me) for her when she returns. should be able to finish it tomorrow without too much difficulty. you know the deal, getting started. maybe it was a good idea getting a little distance from the whole project. when I was in the middle of it there were simply so many details I was juggling I didn't have much time to think...okay here is what I'm up to, or here is what I did. plus, in D+G terms the conjunctive synthesis (acts of identification) are simply spare-parts (or parts alongside of all the parts they pull together). so, I guess I'm trying to engineer a decent conjunctive synthesis. i'll keep you informed.
on a side note, here's the coolest thing about duns scotus. imagine a philosopher who, in so many respects, we wouldn't want to have anything to do with. god this and god that. and, rest assured, we're not talkin the god of spinoza here. but imagine this same philosopher comes along and what's to argue that a whole host of conceptual distinctions aren't just mental constructions but are real (i.e. grounded in the way things are). and yet, none of these distinctions in
This looks like a fine collection. The reading French will come in time (my own skills are pathetically rusty). Fortunately, there is always Guattari himself. Remember to pick up the new Chaosophy. Plus, I don't know if you picked up the earlier publication "Molecular Revolution in Brazil" by Guattari and Rolnik. I've just opened it up at random but it looks great (big surprise).
Sorry Alain and Slavoj. Deleuze is good, Deleuze and Guattari even better.
"What is left for the abstract thinker once she has given advice of wisdom and distinction? Well then, are we to speak always about Bousquet's wound, about Fitzgerald's and Lowry's alcholism, Nietzsche's and Artaud's madness while remaining on the shore? Are we to become the professionals who give talks on these topics? Are we to wish only that those who have been struck down do not abuse themselves too much? Are we to take up collections and create special journal issues? Or should we go a short way futher to see for ourselves, be a little alcoholic, a little crazy, a little suicidal, a little of a guerilla--just enough to extend the crack, but not enough to deepn it irremedially? Wherewever we turn, everything seems dismal. Indeed how are we to save ourselves by saving the surface and every surface organization, including language and life? How is this politics, this full guerilla warfare to be attained? (How much we have yet to learn from Stoicism...)"
great time (what an understatement) on saturday. just noticed that broken needle, some outfit from france, and a bunch of other bands are playing in riverside friday night. doubt you would want to make the trip. regardless I am obliged to relay such things.
just picked up the memoir of penelope rosemont (the wife of franklin rosemont, author of the joe hill book). looks great. plus an extra iww "capitalism can't be reformed" button for you. of course it can, hence its longevity, but reformed in the sense of acceptable...hell no. never.
hope that lard didn't catch up with you the other night.
