BIOGRAPHY
..Ego Likeness was created by artist Steven Archer and writer Donna Lynch in Baltimore in 1999.
Their music has ranged from raw, darkly experimental trip-hop (Songs From a Dead City, 1999) to moody and melodic electronica (Dragonfly, 2000/2005 DFD) to a fusion of industrial rock and darkwave (Water to the Dead, 2004 DFD & The Order of the Reptile, 2006 Dancing Ferret Discs).
Coming from art-based backgrounds, Archer and Lynch incorporate their various non-musical projects into the albums, building connections between their creations. EL was signed to Dancing Ferret Discs from 2004-2009, and is currently scheduled to release their fourth full length album on Metropolis Records later this year.
EL has toured the continental United States, Germany, Poland, the UK, and Luxembourg, and has played at Dracula's Ball (Philadelphia PA), Convergence 11 (San Diego CA), Eccentrik Festival I & III (Raleigh NC), Freak's United & Goth Prom (DC), The Black Sun Festival I & IV (New Haven CT) and Dragon Con 2006 & 2008 (Atlanta GA).
They have had the honor to tour with The Cruxshadows, Voltaire, Ayria, Angelspit, and Combichrist; and have shared the stage with The Damned, New Model Army, Chris Connelly, Collide, Razed in Black, Das Ich, Rasputina, Meg Lee Chin, Attrition, Carfax Abbey, Anathema Device, The Start, Iris, Decoded Feedback, The Azoic, More Machine Than Man, In Strict Confidence, Hypofixx, Still Life Decay, Nurzery Rhymes, nicki jaine (of Revue Noir), Dismantled, Thou Shalt Not, Anders Manga, Stromkern, The Last Dance, Abney Park, Android Lust, and many others.
They have also appeared on numerous compilation CDs, including several Asleep by Dawn releases and the Neil Gaiman tribute CD 'Where's Neil When You Need Him?' (DFD, 2006); released remixes for The Cruxshadows (Cassandra- Fortress in Flames), The Last Dance (Terribly When- Reflections of Rage), Thou Shalt Not (Inside of You, Inspite of You- The Projectionist), Angelspit (Vena Cava- Krankhaus, Girl Poison), Hypofixx (Demon- After December) and Black Tape for a Blue Girl (Tarnished- Scarecrow) and others;and appeared on Voltaire's album Then and Again. EL has also been featured in publications such as Gothic Beauty, Outburn, ABD, Side-line and Sonic Seducer, to name a few.
Archer and Lynch also have an experimental/ spoken word/ instrumental band called The Trinity Project. Trinity was formed in 1999 and released two albums, The Trinity Project I (1999) and The Subtle Movements of the Entropy Engine (2001).
Archer is the creator of the experimental/noise project Hopeful Machines since early 2005 and has albums available for download. He DJs periodically at Spellbound (Recessions) in Washington DC, and Ascension (Club Orpheus) in Baltimore. He is the author and illustrator of a children's book, Luna Maris (Imaginary Books, 2008) and a graphic novel, Red King Black Rook (Raw Dog Screaming Press 2009). His illustrations can regularly be found in Weird Tales Magazine and Steampunk Magazine.
In addition to co-writing for EL and touring, Lynch is currently working on several short stories and a second novel. Her first novel 'Isabel Burning' is now available through Raw Dog Screaming Press (www.rawdogscreaming.com). She has released two collections of poetry, 'In My Mouth' (2000) and 'Ladies & Other Vicious Creatures' (RDSP 2007).

Yeah, you guys totally deserve it. I'm into the kind of music you guys do so hopefully I will see you again! I'll be putting up some more concert pics soon.. ♥
Thanks so much for a great show Monday night at Scarpino's - it was great to meet you both, and I'm looking forward to the next time I get to see you in person!!
i am a hug fan of the both of you as musicians, as authors/poets and as people. my boyfriend and i were in the front row for a cruxshadows show that you played in kansas city and you both won my heart. listening to "wolves" still gives me chills because i picture you singing it live as i saw it. it was so real and emotional. i was also blown away by how personable steven is. h talked to us for a second while you guys were getting set up and no bands ever talk to the people individually like that. i really wanted to tell you a couple of things. 1.) donna, your poetry speaks to me in a way that there are not words for and i play the cd that came with "ladies and other vicious creatures" to anyone who will listen. i love listing you in my favourites poets along side leonard cohen and sylvia plath mostly because i do count you among them in the respect that you all speak the words i am afraid to. also because people never fail to ask who you are and then i get to rave about you. rawdogscreaming doesn't have "in my mouth", though and that makes me sad because i feel incomplete without a copy. 2.)i wanted to let you know what an inspiration you both have been to me as an artist and in my personal life. i, much like every girl, have all these big dreams about being an artist and an author because it's all i am really good at. people like to shoot you down alot for that. i guess people in the midwest don't consider it a real profession. whenever i get asked for an example of anyone who "lives the dream", i think of you two. being who you are exhibits a courage and a freedom that gives me hope for myself. thank you both for that precious gift. 3.)the new pictures that you put up are so enchanting! i am dying to see some pictures of donna in the infamous "quarries" that she always talks about!
Me and my boyfriend saw you guys at the Hanger in New Orleans..it was so nice to meet you. So mad that we missed your performance...damn taxi driver had to get lost. Hope to see you guys on tour around NY some time.
I saw you guys in New Orleans this weekend, and you were amazing. I bought one of your CDs and I'm enjoying listening to it. Thanks for putting on such a good show.
Thank you for the friendship. Caught you for the first time last night in San Antonio and have to say you were the highlight of the evening from my perspective. Am now enjoying "The Order of the Reptile." You mentioned you come to SA quite a bit so will keep my eyes open from here on. Looking forward to listening to the great music and amazing voice live again.
