I guess I sound like...MYSELF! I don't sound like a Nashville picker, some say more like an Austin, TX player, but I don't know. I just try to Twang! And have fun!
I was born in a small river town called Augusta, Kentucky at the Augusta Jailhouse. My Grandpa, Lovell Groves, was the jailer at the time and my parents lived there. I guess I was born with a love for music and I grew up to the sounds of Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard, while beating around with a little toy guitar.
When I was about 10 or 11, my Grandpa brought back from Mt Sterling, KY Court Days Flea Market Festival an old beat up acoustic guitar that became my best friend. Eventually I learned to pick around on that high action monster!
I’ve been in and out of several bands so far in my life. A few made more of an impact on me than others. We always remember our first band. Mine was called “The Good Old Boys”. During the summer of 1980 “The Good Old Boys” played at many beer bashes in the Augusta area. Our drummer had an old Flatbed Ford Pickup truck that we called the “Rebel Rouser” and we would just pull in a field, back yard, or where ever the party was and use that truck’s bed as our portable stage! Our PA was a Shure mic plugged into the one channel of my old Fender Pro-Reverb, while my guitar was in the other!
I've always played guitar in bands except for when I was a member of a band out of Winchester, Kentucky called Uncle Lijah. Uncle Lijah was the house band for the former Dixieland Lounge in Winchester and I held down the Bass position for the group. I spent several years in Uncle Lijah, but I longed to get back to my Tele.
My current band, INSIDE OUT, has been together in one form or another since 1991, after I left Uncle Lijah. Inside Out has given me the opportunity to not only tour all over the US, but we have also toured overseas to perform for Military Troops stationed in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Turkey, Italy, and many more countries.
I’ve also has the pleasure of sharing the stage with many of Country Music’s great stars. George Jones, Merle Haggard, Marty Stewart, The Charlie Daniels Band (who signed my fiddle!), Alan Jackson, Vern Gosdin, Rhonda Vincent, and the list goes on.
I have a passion for song writing and have placed a few songs I have written here on myspace. Hope you enjoy them and let me know what you think about them.
When I first joined myspace I did not do so as an artist, so I couldn't upload any of my original songs to my other myspace website. So I started this site just to manage the songs I use on my other myspace web page.
Please check out my other myspace page at:

I like the tunes. Maybe it's my rock background but if you ever wanted to change up "Maybe This Year" it'd work well as a rocker, too. I think that's the mark of a good song, when it translates well from one form to another.
