Eidölon was formed in late 2005 in the South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne,
Australia with members, Orias, Astaroth, Marbas, Ipos, and Saithkar.
Once we began writing the music we glimpsed exactly how fast the evolution of this band would be. However, we have always remained confident in our ability to keep up the tremendous pace that we have set for ourselves.
The year of 2006 bought us a few set backs, one of which being a change
of line-up. Eidolon now had a new drummer, Archean, and we were back on
track with renewed vigor and an even greater pace than before.
June of 2006 saw the private release of the Eidolon demo,
Beyond The Grace of God, consisting of 3 tracks:
- Credo of the New Millenium
- The Whited Sepulchre
- Sins of the Father
The Ideology of the band mainly stems from the transhumanist and secular
ideals of the band members. Transhumanism can be best described as the
ethical use of technology to transcend the barriers placed on humanity
by biology. It is also a state of mind that welcomes change and advancement in whatever form it takes.
These, unfortunatly, are values highly at odds with those held by the majority.
"The most important thing is this: To be able at any moment to
sacrifice what we are for what we could become." - Charles Dubois
As atheists/materialists we are also strongly opposed to the falsities of
religion and spiritualism, especially those that would seek to slow or halt
the progression of technology in order to preserve tradition.
Mankind will be the hand of his own destruction, or rapture. We need
not the attitude that fate is written by the hand of god. This inspires
apathy, and rejection of change. For mankind, indeed all life on Earth, to
continue, much must be done in a short time, and many of the old ways must be
burried.
We stand at a crossroads, and despite how we may kid ourselves we do
not have the luxury of turning a blind eye or going back on our path. We must
decide the fate of our world this century!
"If we are to survive, there must come great change. I forsee the future,
I see the comming plague" - Warrel Dane of Nevermore
Destruction or Transcendence... We must choose a path!
