You will categorize it as "techno," but it's a mix of techno, breaks, EBM/industrial, glitch/IDM, and dub, however we never play any of the above by it's self. In most of our records it will contain at least two of the above elements. At times our sets sound: abusive, anxious, atmospheric, bright, cold, cosmic, dark, enlightening, intelligent, liberating, macabre, morbid, paranoid, penetrating, piercing, present, psychotic, terrifying, warm... really you have to hear for yourself. Requena, born and raised in Sacramento California. Sun of a DJ, Requena (AKA Furguson AKA Leeroy Jetson) started djing in the year 1998.
Intro, sun of a gun, was born in Hayward California and raised in Berkeley's Shambhala Monastery for his first 9 years. He was then released due to adoption in 1991. In 2000, Intro's (AKA Enrique AKA Door Man) DJ path manifested.
They are; Eighty5Percent, 85Percent, EFP.
For 85Percent it all started in 98 where they witnessed their first massive, Planet Rock. While roaming around trying to comprehend these addictive sounds pumping from Donald Glaude, DJ Dan and the rest of Funky Techno Tribe, EFP realized their path in life. Although, it was Requena who convinced Intro to start Djing in 2000, it was Intro who convinced Requena, techno is life. Shortly after, the two gathered an arsenal of funky techno. EFP wanted to play techno, but weren't sure how to approach it. So they continued attending parties studying the technics of Carl Cox, Misstress Barbara, and Frankie Bones. However it wasn't until 2005 where they witnessed Birmingham's dark prince, Surgeon. After being schooled by Surgeon's raw, penetrating, no bull shit sound production, Intro and Requena knew the truth. His studio productions along with former British Murder Boy Regis, was the prime role in how EFP selected their approach to techno. After that night, EFP realized they couldn't go back to life in the matrix.
Intro and Requena long time friends, consider them self's to be brothers. EFP takes a B-Boy / P.L.O. like approch to techno. While many dj's spin track's by them selves, they decided to combine forces like Voltron and tear heads.
For Intro & Requena, techno is seeing things for what they are, not what the ego makes them out to be. It's total awareness, the number 7, being present, reality, life, truth.
