I love to sing. For as long as I can remember, music has been swirling around in my head. Being the youngest of 3 girls, I was the last in our family to pick up an instrument, sing or even write songs. As a result, I thought that when I was learning piano, flute or guitar that these were pretty normal childhood things to do. I’ve since discovered that I was very fortunate to have had parents who invested time and money to nurture the musical side of their kids. Seriously, it was great... All those tearful "discussions" to get me to practice... :-)
Fast forward 20 years or so and here I am. A singer/songwriter who is having the time of her life! Here’s what Francis Jones has to say about my music...
Eilidh’s is a unique talent, both as writer and singer. Her self-accompaniment on guitar is clean and precise, the music moulded to the mood of each individual song. Lyrically her compositions bring a message as passionate and fresh as the vocal, it is music borne of personal experience, fully alive to this world’s joys and sorrows, beguiling and beautiful, eloping with the listener’s affections.
In recent years Eilidh’s prodigious talent and exquisite aptitude for live performance has seen her sharing the stage with such distinguished artists as Beth Nielsen Chapman, Nanci Griffith, Gretchen Peters and Kimmie Rhodes or playing ‘live’ on BBC Radio Ulster and U105. In March 2008 she performed at the highly acclaimed SXSW music festival in Austin, TX after which she took two more trips to Nashville TN and Seattle WA to attend music industry workshops with other independent artists. Now based in Belfast, she is currently preparing material for her debut album. This follows universal acclaim for her first 3-track demo which has had extensive air-play locally, nationally and even as far afield as New York City.
“Eilidh has a voice as clear as the frosty night air and her self-penned songs suggest a maturity beyond her years. Brilliant.” Maverick magazine
"Eilidh Patterson's voice is velvet and air. The richness of her
sound and her songs is something beautiful to behold and she is
definitely an artist to watch!" Beth Nielsen Chapman
“I love ‘Still Learning’. It’s a wonderful song, beautifully performed and recorded.” Kieran Goss
“(Eilidh) has an easy going charm and commanding stage presence that demands your attention. Her sweet voice never fails to amaze me. Definitely a star of the future.”
Ralph McLean, BBC Radio Ulster
