CREATION 2008: COLLATERAL DAMAGE
EISBÄR* is a new performance group from Antwerp and exists of two members.
Femke Heijens and Benny Claessens.
In 2006 they made "Gollygosh no! for a second there i thought i was involved" at Het Toneelhuis in Antwerp."Gollygosh no!" was a performance about becoming indiffrent.About not taking responsibility regarding the madness around us.And also about commiting horrible acts that change nothing.
"Gollygosh no" played the week during the rascist killings of Hans van Temsche in Antwerp and got some really good and some really horrible reactions.
This performance was called decadent and uncalled for in "de morgen" a flemish newspaper and was also called an animalistic solo and part of belgians top-performances in ballet-tanz (europes leading dancemagazine)
Just come and watch this performance and see for yourself.We plan to keep it on our repertory.We are also talking to people about publishing a photobook Maarten van den Abeele (Pina Bausch, deus, peeping tom, needcompany...) made together with annemie knaepkens.Be sure to look out for it.
ALWAYS CRY AT ENDINGS (2007)
In 2007 Eisbär* made "always cry at endings" together with Els van Peborgh. performance outdoors about finding freedom, redemption,defining space, explaining yourself and becoming the machines you own.In order to destruct nature one needs to destruct himself.

Always cry at endings is playing in september , october and may 2008 again.
Eisbär is planning on making "collateral damage" in 2008.More about that later.

The organic nature of the performance, the intricate solos and brave juxtapositions versus sweet coherence forms
Hellhesten "Factoring in aspects of drone, sound poetry, small instrument improvisation and free jazz, the group work pointillist levitations that would strip the whole Double Leopards/Taj Mahal Travellers stormcloud style of its aura of fug, replacing it with a sum of electro-acoustic sound events that are as individually detailed as they are overtly group-minded. The violin and reed work feels particularly lucid and Anglo-drone focussed. Seems like a buncha next generation UK style has come of age of late and this is another one to add to the pot.
