About eisteddfod

Eisteddfod is a traditional Welsh word used to describe a festival of literature, music and performance. This "jam session" first born in the 12th century, brought together communities to read poetry and share song. It was in this spirit that mezzo-soprano Molly Kittle and guitarist Colin Thurmond formed Eisteddfod in January of 2006. Since then the duo has been captivating audiences with their daring and challenging repertoire of 20th and 21st century music. Eisteddfod challenges the current conception of genre by commissioning, composing and premiering works of contemporary music that cross boundaries and refuse to be categorized. The duo's live performances have been called "hypnotic" and "ecstatic," delivering one of the freshest and most satisfying experiences in music today.
