Label boss Sluggo takes a trip across the desert to the surf and sand of sunny California where Los Angeles’ Bare has been making major noise on the domestic dubstep scene. With tunes recently landing in the sets of Dieselboy, Excision, Datsik and Trillbass and with upcoming releases on Sub Human and Hollow Point, Bare’s been making an indelible mark on US dubstep as of late. On Shy Guy, Sluggo and Bare drop a chugging beast of a tune a in their first collabo together. A pitched down pan flute warms things up to the drop where a heavy digital squelch evolves along a bubbling bass line throughout. An aggressive top end and subdued bass create a versatile tune, working as a bridge point between power cuts on the for the big room jock or something to pick up the energy for your deeper minded DJ. B-side has Bare going solo with Mmm Mmmm. This low-end burner has dances with elements of skweee and hip hop, as 8-bit bleeps and battle wax sample stabs ride a tough mid-range grinder.
