Mom is my best friend and knows me better than I even do sometimes. She did an amazing job of raising two kids being a single Mother, and always let us be whoever we wanted to be. She's supported us in everything we've done with unwaivering positivity and compassion.
Dad was such a musical pioneer in the Indy music scene. His contributions to the musical community through his band, his benefit shows, his acoustic festivals, and his open-stages have impacted more people than I can fathom. He always facilitated an atmosphere that encouraged new, inexperienced musicians to dip their timid little feet in the musical water. Many of them dove right in thereafter! The Mayor made September 19th "Craig Laflin Day" in Indianapolis, and I will forever celebrate it in his memory. Also, I cannot express enough gratitude for the knowledge and respect of music that he's imparted on me since i was a baby. He left me with a love of dissecting music and feeling it so deep it hurts. He is also my hero because during his rapid decline prior to his passing away from Cancer, he remained positive and beautiful in spirit, smiling over at me as I studied and kept a watchful eye over him. He wrote an incredible email to everyone just before he died titled "Baby, I'm a Rich Man". It blew my mind.

Music is absolutely my first love. Introduced to it by my dad (RIP, pops), I love and respect almost every genre of music, though mainstream country is my least favorite. But I gots love for Johnny, Patsy and Neko too! I adore rock, experimental, indie, funk, blues, & hip-hop (mostly underground). One of my favorite memories is listening to an entire Bjork album with my soundproof headphones on in the dark. When you shut out all your other senses it's amazing what hidden things you can hear in a song you've listened to 6000 times before. I highly recommend trying it sometime;)

Bjork. Her music is incredible. She's able to layer and layer and layer sounds that I'd never expect in a song to make the most amazing things happen. She also draws alot of her crunchy beats from actual volcanic sounds from Iceland (like the gurgling of hot lava as it bubbles in pools, etc). She's awesome.
