Regarding Architecture: .
I've been likened to e.e. cummings, william carlos williams and songwriters such as greg brown and john hartford.
I like to throw elements of improvisation into performances. I embellish songs by recalling the senses and the stories that created them. sometimes it comes out like a new song or as a story. i follow the emotion of the moment.
so if you want poetry that is alive. if you want to see a performer enjoying their craft. then i'm your man. i will smile and laugh and find you.
i perplex people and ease them into songs. i am not folk music and i am not a poet. i am singing something like architecture and images.
in the summer of 2008 I embarked on my first tour by train. Trevor Reichman and I set out across the country playing over twenty shows in thirty days. We started the website railraodfolk.com for our tour. We ran into hurricanes and many helpful friends and strangers along the way. Not only did i fall in love with trains but also with the people and the landscape of america.
Elam has a knack for writing songs that are sheer poetry. Combining bits of Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie and others, every time I hear him sing and play I just want to take off my hat and stay a while.

Elam is a lyrical, poetical, mystical master of the turn of the phrase that will
turn the corners of your mouth upward in a grateful grin.

I am in Round Two of The TRCoA Unsigned Artist Competition. Help me get to Round Three by clicking my face and voting for me!
If I’m in the top 4 I get to play a showcase for record executives and could win 100 free hours in the studio.
If I were selected, it would really help me rock some faces off, please take a second and vote.
Thanks!

I was noting the business of hammering and painting, but the travel logistic to Kerrville looks particularly daunting to some this year; how's the weather in Knoxville?
I will be playing at the Louie Bluie Festival, up in LaFollette, June 12-13. I will be doing the Blue Plate Special as well, on Friday. Any chance of a gig someplace in town, somewhere in that time frame?
