All members of Elan Vital are cousins from a long line of Gipsy Imigrants who derived from Spain, France, Romania, Russia, Mexico, and Yugoslavia, arriving in America several generations ago. Upon their arrival in America, some of those imigrants also migrated with natives, namely, Tsalagi (Cherokee Indians) giving the members of Elan Vital and beautiful and rich history which is heard in their music and soon to be seen on their documentary. The members still practice many of the customs and traditions of their Roma (Gypsy) heritage including travelling, wine making, fortune telling, buying, restoring and selling of automobiles, and trading horses. They speak and sing in 4 different languages and have never received formal music lessons, nor can any of the members read music, which is a common yet magical trait amongst Roma musicians around the globe. We hope you enjoy the positive energy of this amazing and passionate Gypsy band as much as we do.
