Ela Soza’s voice is like the dawn breaking; innocent, beautiful and radiating warmth and her songs have raw honesty. A citizen of Europe, she speaks her mind fluently in 4 different languages. Her journey began in Zurich where she was born to Croatian parents, who always retained their roots. Ela’s early experience of music was of her parents playing traditional Dalmatian songs. It’s very different to the music she loves making, but the free spirit and melancholic undertones can be heard in her writing today.

There is nothing conventional about Ela. Her early musical experiences have helped her create a magical sound. She continues, “When I speak to girls who grew up listening to their parents’ records by artists such as Marvin Gaye, Etta James and so on, I used to feel envious that they had been so young when they were exposed to such great music. But now, I am still discovering great musicians and I am continually shaping who I am musically."

In 2007 an early demo version of her ‘Words From You’ was chosen as the Record of the Day by industry magazine ‘Record of the Day’. She has just finished recording her debut EP containing 9 original songs and 2 French adaptations and has performed 10 shows in New York at venues such as The Living Room, Rockwood Music Hall and The Bitter End, where artists like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Norah Jones have previously played. And has recently returned from a mini Tour in Japan to get ready to record her second album.
