El Capitan are an alternative indie rock band from N Ireland. Having already taken their initial steps playing live on the local Irish alternative circuit they are now getting regular airtime on uk and irish radio stations and have recorded a number of sessions for high profile shows.
The band cite a host of influences including Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine amongst many other's, combining all their favourite parts from each and melding them all together to create their own unique alloy of alternative rock.
The band was formed in April 06 by guitarist/songwriter Sean Mc Goldrick and vocalist Mark Phair who had also been writing songs together for a number of years previous - Mc Goldrick had previously played in numerous local alternative bands as a drummer.
David Jordan with John Monaghan joinedshortly afterward to complete the line-up on both Drums and Bass respectively, while Mc Goldrick and Phair began reworking acoustic demos to full band songs adding newer songs along the way.
Bass Player John Monaghan departed in april 2007 and has since been replaced by Ronan McGrade.
Despite their short history El Capitan have already won a number of fans and high profile admirers including BBC Radio 1's Steve Lamacq who has recently recommended the band and record producer's Chris Sheldon (foo fighters, the pixies, feeder) Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers), and Brian Sperber (Dinosaur Jr, Feeder) who all have both expressed an interest to work with them in the future.

Hello My Friend, and our respect for your work !!!
Welcome to our list and thank you for becoming our friend!
The helpless must be protected, and those with no voice of their own must be spoken up for. Those who prey on our children rely on silence, and it must not be allowed to continue! So thank you for adding your voice to ours, together we will grow louder...AND WE WILL BREAK THE SILENCE!!!
Apologies for the very late reply fellas. Yes, we would be up for playing in NI. We would need to ask a couple of favours though, transporting all our gear would take 2 transit vans (4x 4x12 cabs, 1x 2x15/2x10 bass cab, 3 guitar amps, 1x 12 rack unit....yes, we have too much gear for 3 piece...!) Would be great if we didn't have to transport cabs.
